ESPN is reporting that Orton is going to be out atleast a month with a high ankle sprain. How do you think Grossman will preform not that he is the starter?
Personally I think he is going to do a good job. I thought he played well last year when he got his second chance and was looking good until he got hurt against the redskins. Plus don't forget that he will be a free agent and be playing for next year's contract.

Slight flaw in your analysis there...this IS Rex Grossman we're talking about. Quite simply, it comes down to which Rex shows up on the day...good Rex or bad Rex. This could be the defining month of the Bears season.

I know, I know, but I still thought that last year when he came back from his benching he played well. He didn't force balls and he seems to check down when needed.
I guess we'll see this week with Tennessee. Hopefully he finally gets it.

While I think Rex has absolutely no future in Chicago.I agree he did look smarter with the football last year when he came back.
The preliminary reports on Orton were a bit extreme. Today the team hinted towards him only being out 2-3 weeks, instead of "at least a month"
With the next 3 games being against; Titans, Packers and Rams. Bears might be able to squeek out 2 wins.
I am pretty sure they won't win all 3 or lose all 3
Tennessee scares me the most because of the dynamic duo at running back and a stout def. You never know what will happen in a GB Chi game and I think the rams are still very beatable.
I am not too worried about Rex filling in. But that being said, I forgot how stressfull it was watching rex drop back to pass.

Yeah it will be interesting for sure to see how Grossman does. I am also anxious to see the Tennessee game. The Bears haven't really been hurt against the run except Minnesota. And the Titans do have two good running backs. If the Bears can slow them down and make them throw I think they have a chance to win it. Green Bay and St. Louis should be wins, but so should have been Atlanta.
I think Grossman can hold the fort down for the next couple of weeks. Just as long as he doesn't try to win it all by himself. But the deap ball to Hester does seem more probably the next couple of weeks.

Did anybody else see the Bears/Titans game on sunday? Grossman looked bad. Consistently missing open receivers and looking completely lost in the pocket. I'm sure glad that Orton might be back next week.

And they cut Chris Leak, also did not pursue Culpepper or Leftwich, I promise you that all of them at their worst are not as bad as 'Bad Rex!'

Cut Leak? Didn't pursue Cullepepper or Leftwitch? We didn't necessary need them. What is Leak doing? Wasn't he going to be a part of the AAFL? Cullepepper wanted to be a starter and wasn't going to sign as a back up. And Leftwitch wasn't that great of an option either. Remember that Orton has had a great year so far. Rex will be a lifetime back up, and he definitely looked that way on Sunday. The Bears will either pick up a better option for a back up in free agency or promote Caleb Hanie to #2 and draft somebody in rounds 4-6.

You may have to go into round 3 for this guy, but Nate Davis of Ball State may well be a nice option for the Bears. He could come in and learn the ropes from Orton for a while but has the potential to be a starting QB in a couple of years if Orton either got injured, left, or just declined.

Yeah, Nate Davis would be a nice pick up. I've had the privledge of seeing him play in person. I don't think the Bears would look for a QB that early though. Angelo hardly ever looks for a position like quarterback that early. But I guess if they address their offensive and defensive lines in free agency or early in the draft the third round could be a place where they look for one.
