With this win at home over a determined squad from Staten Island, the Sacred Heart Pioneers continued to put pressure on Northeastern Conference leaders Monmouth and Albany. They did it behind the tough running of PP Evin Jones, and the defensive prowess off PP corner Rishard Brown who suffered a serious injury right near the very end of the game. QB Dale Fink outplayed Wagner's Iowa transfer QB, Adam Farnsworth in the win.

SCOUTING SUMMARY:

College: Wagner Conference: Northeast Columnist: Steve Martin

Robert Brown 91 6' 1.1" 239 4.70 DE 2009: Widely proclaimed as one of the best DEs in the NEC, but I really didn't see much today. Anticipates the snap well, and even seems offsides occasionally, but not called. Gets sucked inside, but chases and makes plays. Average-to-below-average reaction times. Ok in a straight line but shows only fair lateral skills. Can not transition to OLB. Not particularly instinctive. Average get off. Stands still and hand fights too much. Holds his ground in the run game at this level. GRADE: Slightly negative

Adrian Adderly 99 6' 0.0" 311 5.25 DT 2009: A load at this level. Bull rusher who plays best when he just rips and goes. Holds his ground. Moves around a little, and shows some ability to chase. Hand fights too long. Decent tackler. Short. May only be 5'10"-5'11"...Flushes QB but lacks finishing speed. GRADE: Neutral

Jeremy Spinks 44 5' 11.0" 230 4.70 LB 2009: DNP
Matthew Martin 73 6' 3.0" 310 5.60 OT 2009: DNP

College: Sacred Heart Conference: Northeast Columnist: Steve Martin

Brian Walsh 63 6' 4.4" 320 5.70 OT 2009: DNP
Aaron Thomae 68 6' 5.3" 320 5.80 OT 2009: DNP
Note: The SHU line has been hit hard by injruies, and so has the Wagner LB corps.

Evin Jones 3 6' 0.5" 219 4.62 HB 2009: Most intriguing guy in this game, but that's not saying a whole lot... No breakaway gear, and needs some upper body work, but he is a nice one-cut runner with a decent stutter step. Has a spin move. Runs N-S hard. Flashes hands and is used extensively in flat passes and screens. Even lines up wide occasionally. Slasher. Productive at this level. Pro size. Slow starter, and that could be his downfall though...GRADE: Slightly positive

Rishard Brown 2 5' 11.0" 184 4.60 S 2009: Tough little tackler. Opportunistic. Gets into the right spots. Makes plays. Shows awareness in pass D, and picks the ball. Not all that fluid. Tight hips. Injured at the end of the game, and looked like a head or neck. Stabilized head and took him in a stretcher. GRADE: Neutral

OTHER NOTES:

SHU: Junior WR (#5, 6'1", 195) is a player, and will be in the database next year. Tough. Nice hands. No alligator arms. Good concentration. Draws penalties. Dropped two passes though...one a sure TD.

QB Dale Fink has a chance to be a camp QB one day...

Wagner: QB Adam Fanrnsworth (the Iowa transfer) shows a big arm, and the ability to throw well on the run. Just came back off of 3 weeks on the IR. Looked rusty. Has some skills, but has a long way to go.

Soph. S Stefen Gage (#12, 6'0", 185) is going to be a nice player.

Jr. RB Shane Smith (#33) is a tough, big, slug-it-out-runner, who runs a bit upright, but gets around the corner and breaks tackles. Could be a 4.6 guy...
