This is a make up game, and I don't know who won because the tape stopped with 12 minutes left in the 4th with Fresno up 34-31. But, that's not all that important...

SCOUTING SUMMARY:

College: Fresno State Conference: Western Athletic Columnist: Brett Walker

Bear Pascoe 85 6' 4.0" 260 4.80 TE 2009: Old school, NFL-style TE who really blocks and can sneak out and grab a couple passes for you. (Had a 4-yard TD catch.) Keeps feet churning when RBing...Rugged, burly and really looks like an OT when blocking. Tough to bring down after the catch, Not a seam stretcher or burner. Looks like a solid #2 TE who will make a living coming in for every 2-TE set. 4th round talent, who may go higher if the right team needs him. GRADE: Positive

Tom Brandstater 7 6' 4.0" 220 0.00 QB 2009: Good footwork. Pro-style dropback passer with a strong arm. Classic set up. Low release point makes him shorter. Had two PsBD at the LOS in this one. Not elusive at all. Bit of the Bledsoe disease in the pocket. Has a memory in the negative sense of the word. Fragile psyche. Needs to be enouraged. Sure looks the part on several plays. Throws a nice deep ball. Round 2 skill set, Round 6 head. GRADE: Neutral

AJ Jefferson 28 5' 11.5" 180 0.00 CB 2010: Scary, scary return man with great openfield natural return-man moves. Enough speed to take it to the house any time he is returning it. OK coverage guy who stays with the receiver. Lacks strength when he gets there though and can be outbattled. Good technique in pass D, but not nasty enough to win any contested balls. Like a gnat in run support. Tries, but gets pinballed, run over, and run around. DaJuane Collins made him look silly twice. KR skills are his meal ticket. Is he related to Shawn, Brett? GRADE: Neutral

College: Toledo Conference: Mid-American Columnist: Sam Maxwell

Barry Church 8 6' 2.2" 216 4.60 S 2010: Solid 2-way strong safety who has all the measurables, the attitude, and the overall skill set to be drafted first day if he declares. Big hitter who hits like a MLB. Drops quite smoothly for his size, but is no DR-C in coverage. ST missile. Was 1 for 2 on two fake punt receptions, got a first down conversion on one, and the other throw was a little low--but could have been caught. Gets in the backield and makes explosive TFLs. Very little not to like here. 2nd round talent right now, 1st round in 2010. GRADE: Positive

Nick Moore 1 6' 3.0" 193 4.60 WR 2009: Lean and lanky, but fights better for YAC than you might think. Blocks, but got caught holding on one of them. Returns punts. Long strider who needs 12 pounds. Has the look of a career #4 right now. OK hands. GRADE: Neutral

DaJuane Collins 22 5' 9.7" 211 4.50 HB 2010: Stud junior who really runs the edge well. Shows a second gear and really turns the corner. Got injured early, but came back and still put up big runs and impressive numbers. Nice Ht/Wt/speed ratio. Slide step is outstanding. Squeezes through holes. Breaks arm tackles. Very slippery. Looked like a 3rd round back in this one...not sure what the rest of his year has been like. GRADE: Very Positive

Tyrrell Herbert 28 6' 1.3" 201 4.60 S 2009: A no-name guy who plays. Very active in run support for a FS. Makes plays all over the field. Good enough size for an NFL Nickel at worst. Can blitz and finish. Feisty. The right kind of cocky. Overshadowed by Church, but he is SOLID. Didn't see enough of him in coverage, as they picked on the corners. Grade: Positive

OTHER NOTES:

Fresno State:

DT Jon Monga (#94, 6'2", 280) was the best DT for either team. Really stood out before going out with a right leg just before half and never returned. Gives good effort every play. Good rip move. Stout at POA. Gets into the backfield and fights through the double-team on occasion (always fights it like he expects to...) Brett, I don't know what has happened to him since this early season contest, but he looke like a possible PP before the injury. Any status on him?

#21 Soph RB Ryan Matthews has some real sweet moves. Glider with smooth hips. Could be a future STAR.

Toledo:

DE/LB Keith Forestal (#54, 6'3", 245) made a play, but not enough to make me think he deserves a database entry despite those nice measurables.

Junior WR #88 Steven Williams is a 6'4"+ guy with a 38" vj. High points the ball too! A name to remember next year fo' shoah.

Monga is someone who looked good last year but I've seen them 3 or 4 times and he's played, but been MIA. I know he was hurt, but maybe he came back too soon. They are getting run on like no one's business so he's in the middle so he looks to have regressed.

I really like Ryan Matthews. He's a bit injury prone but a star in the making.

I don't think the Jeffersons are related.
