Even though i can't stand Tennessee this kid is amazing. i remember him coming in playing safety last year as a true frosh and laying major wood. now he is at corner and i believe is the best DB in the college game right now has anybody else seen him play?

Savage, I'm going to watch the Tenn-Vandy game today so I'll give you more feedback on Berry after that...from what I remember of watching him against UAB earlier this season, he looked very impressive.

Berry is the best S prospect that I have seen since Ed Reed, he has it all: size, speed, coverage, a hitter, smart and he can play 3 positions in the secondary! ohmy.gif

I haven't seen all that much UT this year, but for my money it's Chancellor...maybe even Barry Church for underclassmen safeties after Mays. We probably have Church a bit under-rated right now.

Nail on the head... he's going to have an Ed Reedesque impact once he gets to the NFL. I'd say he's the best defensive back in college football right now, and that's not going out on a limb by any means.

I totally agree! Wait til he goes 210 his senior year too...yikes! He's a killer at 195-200.

He'll never make it to his senior year. He's a top 10 pick after his junior year in 2009 barring anything unexpected.

This is my honest opinion here that I have had since his first game I saw his Frosh year. There have only been three Players ever that I truely Would watch a game just to see them play and are my favorite players of all time. Ed McCaffrey, The Late Great Sean Taylor (Who I always Brag about because I knew about him in High School and was a fan before he even stepped foot at the U), and Eric Berry! Eric Berry will be hands down the best Safety to ever play the game! My favorite player currently in all of football including the NFL, Whatever team this kids goes to will be adopted as my favorite second NFL Team. It might sound pretty wierd how highly I think of Eric, but I am telling you he is a shutdown Safety, and is an amazing athlete as well as Football player. He understands the game! I would take him number one overall in any of the last 8 drafts, besides maybe last years because of how Great Ryan Clady is wink.gif But seriously if he was elligble and I was a Gm and I was the Lions I would announce today that I was Picking the kid. You will rarely ever hear me talk this highly about any player except the ones previously mentioned. So as for Eric Berry, the best safety since Ed Reed, as some of you will say, he will be better, no disrespect to Ed, but Berry is a man and he is ready to crack heads at the next level.

oh yeah i think he is better than reed from just an athletic point of view he is in more of a ronnie lott rod woodson class of athletic safety. he is one of the few players where he is literally moving at a different pace as everyone else like a deion sanders that can hit. but i wonder where they will put him in the league at cb or s?

I actually feel as if UT made a dumb move putting him at FS, he's in my opinion, the best cover CB in the SEC, period. He had a pick six vs. Tebow as a true frosh and hasn't looked back since. The dude is a freak of an athlete, sticks to guys like glue and hits hard. He could play CB, FS or SS in the NFL...hell he could even play WR!
bcdrama
Lott played fast and hard but, he was not as fast in a straight line as Reed 4.51 on a slow surface or Woodson 4.41 at the combine and a 4.29 on a fast surface.
