I am a diehard fan and band wagoners are a huge pet peeve of mine. I don't know why, maybe I am just an idiot. But I hate it when people jump ship.
I think part of the dynamic of being a sport fan is having to live thru terrible times to make the winning ones even that much more sweet.
I am a loyal fan (for better or worse) of everything sports related in illinois; Bears, Bulls, Cubs, Sox, Hawks and Illini football and basketball.
Today I would like to extend immunity to any raider fan who wants to root for another team. (not that I mean anything or that you guys need my permission) I just feel tarribly frustrated for you guys even as an outsider. I could care less if the raiders never win a game again.
BUT
I feel for raider fans. Al Davis and his white plastic pants may not even life another 3-5 years. But I think that raider fans will still be sentenced to at least 5 years of football h3ll after he passes.

I agree with your dislike of band wagon fans. Pick a team and stick with it, through the good times and bad times. Thats what makes being a fan so good. When your team stinks and then does well.
However, what do you think of people who have a favorite team root for a team because of whatever reason. For example. I am a diehard Nebraska Cornhusker fan, but this year I am rooting for Ball State and Buffalo do win games.

I assume you syill love the cornhuskers johanns. Just rooting for other teams thats all.
I think everyone does that. I really want to see Northwestern win a bowl game and watch Notre Dame squirm.
Notre Dames accademic standards are no higher than Northwesterns yet every few years they still manage to put up a bowl team.
I more like rooting for other teams because of certain players; Nate Davis Ball State, the rb duo at mich state, etc.

With the exception of being a fan of the local teams, I think everybody starts out being a bandwagon fan. As long as you stick with your team when they do bad, then you are a true fan.

Knowing my personallity i would have been a loyal fan what ever state i was born in.
But I was born in 80, so I watched the bears as a youngin and then the bulls during MJs hay day. The rest is history.

I've never been a bandwagoner...I support my local soccer team, local cricket team and I chose my NFL team based purely on the name of my local rugby team, the Newcastle Falcons.

I've been an (Atlanta) Falcons fan since 1979, despite living in New England all my life. I've stuck with them through thick and thin...
And most of it has been pretty f@#king thin!

Been with the Broncos since the '70's, so needless to say, when we finally won a Superbowl, it was one of the best moments of my life. Gotta deal with the bad to enjoy the good.
