Full Version: Ridiculously early Pat's Mock Draft
CDS Boards > NFL Discussion Center > AFC East > Patriot Palace
PatriotofMaine
Rd Pick

1-20 Mark Herzlich, LB, Boston College: The new Bruschi. Plays an awful lot like him. Hustles all over the field, picks off passes. The kind of big, bruiser Belichick loves at the position. SMART.

2-42 D.J. Moore, CB, Vanderbilt: Versatile pure cover corner who can stop the bleeding opposite Ellis Hobbs. His versatility has "Patriots" stamped all over him.

2-52 Herman Johnson, OG, L.S.U.: Revolving door at ROG is over.

3-84 Anthony Dixon, RB, Mississippi State: Can be a feature back. Powerful, durable replacement for Maroney the bust.

4-116 Raphael Nguti, OT, Albany: Best OT nobody is talking much about. As good, potentially, as any OT in this draft outside the Big 3. Pushing Light until he retires...

Looks good! I don't know that Herzlich goes that early, but he definitely makes sense for the Pats. Moore might go even earlier than 42. Love Nguti in the 4th.

Do you think Dixon offers that much more than Green-Ellis?
PatriotofMaine
Yea, Herzlich may not go quite that high, but I'd love to see them drop back to #26-30 if they could still get him there.

I think Dixon has the potential to be exactly as good as Green-Ellis. Nothing wrong with having two YOUNG big backs. Then we look for someone to replace Faulk in the 5th...Someone like Tyrell Sutton...
RedRaider80
I've heard that Vontae Davis has been falling on draft boards. If he's there in the 1st, the Pats need to jump on him IMO. Then in the 2nd could get a thumper like Micah Johnson (very underated right now) or maybe Brinkley

Herzlich has Pats, and Pro Bowl, written all over him.

Oh, I couldn't agree more. He may not be a Pro Bowl guy until like year three, but he's definitely going. And, if the Pats can nab him, their defense will be just like it was when Bruschi was in his prime...especially if their injured guys all come back strong next season.

Other's who fit the NE "System:"
DE/OLB Stryker Sulak
TE/FB Mark Hafner
FS/SS Curtis Taylor
Ditto on TB Tony Dixon as Kevin Faulk II and Antony Dixon to replace Dillon/Morris in the big back role. wink.gif
