I can't remember. Was Sed ellis even projected as afirst rounder prior to the senior bowl last year?
Could we see another case this year where a guy looks amazing in the SB and really makes jimself alot of money?
If so, anybody want to make a prediction?
(I will say Mitch King is a high riser)

sed started to get noticed as first round potential after the previous sesons bowl game. i think people that were highly ranked and then had dissapointing seasons can make big leaps. like cullen harper and arian foster. also i want to see what pat white is going to do. i still think he could play qb.

Follett, Foster, Harrell, Kenny McKinley, Mohammed Massaquoi Shawn Nelson and Chip Vaughn will likely lift their stock. John Parker Wilson will show flashes but largely confirm what is already known the same for: the backs- Davis and Ringer.
I think one or more of the top CBs might get exposed a bit: Mickens or Smith, I thnk the USC guys will all look like future pro's but Cushing is the one I'd keep an eye on to jump out at you.

I think Max Unger and Antoine Caldwell are going to really step forward at center and move ahead of Mack and Luigs. I think, also, that the quality of the interior linemen is going to show (Tyronne Green, Andy Levitre, Trevor Canfield). -- And as a result, some of the defensive tackles won't look as good as people expect (especially Fili Moala).

The 5 guys Im most excited to see play are
Bomar- Is he still talented?
Ayers- I think underrated, super athletic.
Hood- How does he do vs stronger comp.?
Jennings- Can he put up great number vs. top comp?
Mickens- How will he handle bigger guys like Massuqoi, Turner and McKinley?
O and Delmas too- Is he all Maycock hype or is he a legit 1st rounder?

Guys, I m hearing that Nic Harris is playing at OLB this week..I haven't seen practice but I was wondering if someone else heard that or saw practice?

He practiced at safety yesterday, although there was some speculation that he'd get some reps at LB. Haven't heard anything from today yet.
Connor Barwin (DE/LB-Cincy) is practicing at TE for the North because they needed another one at the position, although he should be tried at LB.

He practiced at OLB this morning. Looks the part off the bus, but is going to need some reps to transition effectively. Looked a little bit lost.

I usually don't like going off of other people, but I used to talk to Matt McGuire frequently over at walterfootball.com Here's his notes on each weigh in
O- http://walterfootball.com/seniorbowl2009weighinoffense.php
D- http://walterfootball.com/seniorbowl2009weighindefense.php
He also has his daily notes and a blog up. Since I'm at school there's some good info there that recap the day quickly..

From what I'm hearing Brandon Pettigrew is doing really well for himself...Its hard to believe he didn't score a TD this year..
And mark me down as a Derrick Williams fan...I gathered information on him when he was considering Oklahoma and have to say I hated that he didn't come here...But I like him a lot.....

Yea, Nic really showed me something in this morning's session. He is going to make a fine WILL, and is handling the transition well. Back in the Top for this young STUD.
Iglesias looks good, yes...but Robiskie and Turner have stolen most of the thunder. Williams has been very steady also.
Darius Butler has really helped himself today, as have:
Zack Follet
Tony Fiammetta
William Beatty (who has rocketed up everyone's charts)
B.J. Raji has bounced Oher out of the Top 10.
Guys who continue to slide:
William Moore
Ramses Barden

Players from the South squad who really helped themselves during the first two televised practice sessions:
Pat White, QB, West Virginia: Has proven he needs to be tried first at QB after all. Shows a stronger arm with better accuracy than most though he possessed. The new stage in the "Wildcat" offensive development...a true dual threat!
Patrick Turner, WR, U.S.C.: Has really opened eyes with his cutting ability and separation quickness for one so large. Catches cleanly too. Has jumped all the way up to a top 5 senior WR in our position rankings, and onto the Top 100. IS NOT MIKE WILLIAMS II.
Chip Vaughn, S, Wake Forest: Shows he is tough enough to stick people with the best of them, and can cover better than some thought.
Andre Brown, HB, N.C. State: A 224-pound back with better moves than probably any back of his size or larger in this draft.
Clay Matthews, OLB, U.S.C.: Kudos to Brett for pointing out that this guy needed to be in our Top 100 over two months ago. He only continues to rise.
Tyronne Green, OG, Auburn: Underappreciated OG who came into this week as a borderline draftable guy, and has not looked out of place at all with bigger (and bigger name) OGs surrounding him at Mobile, and has worked his way into 5-6th round consideration.
Shawn Nelson, TE, Southern Miss: The talk of the Senior Bowl, really. Everyone knew he could catch, but he also displays the willingness to block, can stretch a seam, and has the frame to go from his current 238 up to 250-255.
Kyle Moore, DE, U.S.C.: Kind of the hidden man on the U.S.C. defense, but we've had him fairly highly-rated for months knowing he had the frame to grow into a premium 3-4 DE.
Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee: One-year wonder for the Vols who has done nothing but impress, and continues his fine senior-year momentum at the Senior Bowl. Looks like a possible 2nd-rounder now after coming in as a 4-5th round type guy.
Vance Walker, DT, Georgia Tech: CDS has him highly ranked most of the year, but his play tailed off as he wore down late in the Ga Tech season. Has come into Mobile looking fresh and has impressed in 1-on-1s. Needs some sort of energy drink for weeks 12-16 of the NFL season?

Just watching today's South Practice and though they're not in pads I'm trying to do a bit of scouting / nit picking.
Rashad Jennings was just struggling in a couple of the power/hitting drills. The Coach picked him up on his not wanting to put his all into the hit. Is this something that he did in college? Is it going to be something that he's going to be afraid to do in the NFL?
John Parker Wilson just ran a 2min offense and was throwing quite nicely and with accuracy at first. He did try to put one into double coverage though and threw to the receivers outside shoulder on a sideline route, leaving him out of bounds.
The Center, which I believe was Luigs, just made a rookie mistake...he snapped the ball to the QB who he thought was under center...trouble was he was in shotgun.
Massaquoi just had a bad drop. It couldn't have been better for him really in terms of catchability.
Brian Cushing just showed he can cover in 7-7 as well as hit...nice!
Patrick Turner is starting to make a noise and just had a very nice TD catch despite good coverage from Domonique Johnson.
Mike Wallace is having a good week too and made a nice sideline catch just now.
Michael Hamlin has made a couple of nice breaks on the ball in 7-7 and batted down a couple of passes. Made a nice play on a WR reverse too!
Is Alphonso Smith the next DeAngelo Hall? He's a bit undersized but more importantly he's always looking to make an INT or knock down the pass instead of making the sure play.
Cullen Harper just had Patrick Turner open on a 15-20ish yard route, and underthrew him by about a mile...
And that's a wrap...

Green was borderline draftable before Senior Bowl week??? Really? He was a stud at Auburn all year. I liked the potential I saw in 2007-08 and he stepped it up even more so as a senior. I don't think he's really much of a surprise and wouldn't be at all surprised if he sneaks into the end of round 3--although I think he has round 4 written all over him.

I think Shawn Nelson has really helped himself, he was a late 2nd day pick in the mind of most, after this and the combine he may be on the 3rd/4th cusp, Curry and Cushing were my 2 favorite LBs in college going into the season and nothing has changed that. Alex Mack has impressed me I think he's gone in the 1st 5-10 picks of round 2. Turner who may be asked to become a "move" TE or H-Back is likely to also move up a round or 2. I think Smith is trying too hard, but I still like him a great deal. Hamlin is solid all the way around.
I have always said that Pat White is ahead of where Rich Gannon was aat the same point and Gannon became an All Pro, so let's wait a bit before we move him to WR or DB. Chip Vaughn was my safety Mancrush this year and I'd love to see him go to the Steelers in 3rd. Clark could back up both safety spots and Polamalu would be the FS. Follett is a very good mid-round bargain, Derrick Williams will be a steal if he's there in the early 2nd, Moore and Matthews are also on my Steelers wish list! Pettigrew in my mind is a top 3 TE and is perhaps the most complete one in this draft.

The stuff I've been reading has been very different in tone regarding his effectiveness as a passer this week.
I still think he's a 7th round/practice squad guy unless he gets into camp and turns into Josh Cribbs.

Yeah, I'm with Messers Martin and Mayock on Pat White...he's a 3rd or 4th round guy who you find a way to use somehow or other. Apparently Jack Del Rio has scripted a "Pat White Package" which is likely to be seen at some point during the Bowl game and my understanding is that it shows off a bit of what he can do running the football but also allows him to show off his abilities as a passer.
And while I'm at it, I have to say that of the 3 South QBs (the others being Cullen Harper and JP Wilson), he looked the best out there yesterday.

They just posted a column on pfw.com about how most observers in Mobile didn't wanted him to move to WR and that his passing accuracy was eratic during the week of practice.

My personal notes from Mobile:
http://www.realgmfootball.com/src_encroach...s_from_tuesday/http://www.realgmfootball.com/src_encroach...nesday_edition/http://www.realgmfootball.com/src_encroach...ursday_edition/Quick thoughts on winners and losers
Winners:
Raji solidified himself in the top 10 picks, perhaps top 5. I know Seattle loves him.
Coye Francies moved up to the 25-40 range
Brian Robiskie moved to 50-70 range
Alex Mack is the freaking man, best C prospect of the 2000s
Xavier Fulton moved up from 6th round to at least being considered in the 3rd, probably a 4th though
Alphonso Smith solidified himself as the #2 CB after Jenkins
Robert Ayers had a real nice week, drew some Merriman comparisons though I don't see it
Shawn Nelson opened a lot of eyes, mine included
Mitch King and Alex Magee both fared well
Losers:
All QBs, but esp. Cullen Harper and Graham Harrell. Neither should be drafted. I agree with Mayock about Pat White--take him at the top of the 4th and use him as a #2 QB and also 10-15 snaps at Wildcat or WR. He had the most consistent arm here and his charisma and leadership are evident.
Max Unger had a rough week
Domonique Johnson looked real raw and in need of some serious coaching
James Davis is dropping big-time
For as much as Brian Cushing looks the part and flashes greatness from time to time, he sure spends an awful lot of the time doing absolutely nothing. I stood next to a Bucs scout and a LB coach and they were talking about how much of a tease he is. The scout was strictly focused on Cushing on Wed. and his report was not favorable. I still really love his potential though, but I would rate Clay Matthews higher
Herman Johnson sure as heck cannot play RT and he's probably too slow and plodding to play G either
Ron Brace--see my Tuesday notes
Andy Levitre--see Thursday notes

People told me I was nuts to have his backfield mate, Steve Slaton, in the Top 100 last year too...Patrick White is even MORE explosive a runner than Slaton, and with the Wildcat proliferating he's a borderline 2nd/3rd rounder now.
Yes, everyone is indeed welcome to their opinions.

I appreciate the reporting. I totally agree on Smith and Robiskie, but I thought Patrick Turner really helped himself (coming from where he was beforehand) even more than Robiskie. Did you get that same sense?
Any comments on Andre Brown?

I agree about Turner. On Wed. he made a play that showed he could really accelerate and separate, which are the big knocks on him. He didn't catch the ball (QB's fault) but he put forth the effort and flashed some speed. He looks a lot like Limas Sweed physically and in style of play.
I thought Andre Brown was very impressive, and I've thought that all year. When he was healthy he was often dominant, very physical and able to move the pile. But he's had some major knee problems and from what I gather he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, so I wonder about how far up he will go. Arian Foster was off to a great start too--probably the best overall RB there before he got hurt. He attacked the holes and burst through, and he was able to drive Maualuga backwards once on a blitz drill.
I thought Caldwell had a nice week, much better than Luigs. Caldwell really fires off the snap and engages in a position of strength, something Mack does very well too. Eric Wood let me down, very passive and lacking base strength in pass protect.
Manny Johnson showed me something in his brief time. He's bigger than I thought he was too--not height-wise but bulk. I always pegged him as a skinny guy but he's got some meat on his bones.
Unger had real problems with base and leverage after snapping the ball. He was much better at G, when he didn't have as much to think about and when he could move a little before contact.

How would you rank the top 5 centers, YJ?
Right now, I am saying (based on the game performance and week of practice):
Mack, Caldwell, Luigs, Unger, Wood...(with Shipley breathing down Wood's neck.)

Here are my very preliminary (and blatantly obvious) observations, PRE-SCOUTING REVIEW,
on last night's game.
Helped himself the most: Andre Brown
Also elevated their stock: Darius Butler, Rhett Bomar, Cody Brown, Mitch King, Herman Johnson, Robert Ayers, Corvey Irvin, Mike Thomas, Quinn Johnson, Tyrrone Green, David Veikune.
Hurt himself the most (at least 2-3 rounds): Graham Harrell
Also hurt their stock: William Moore, DeAngelo Smith, Andy Levitre, Sherrod Martin, Eric Wood.

Mack is #1 without a doubt. I like your ordination. I am not an AQ Shipley fan at all--great collegian, not an NFL body.
Glad you brought up Will Moore as a disappointment, because that was a prevailing theme in Mobile too. I can't see him going before the 4th round anymore, no matter how he tests in Indy. Deangelo Smith also didn't fare well, though I think most folks saw him as a nickel back/safety type a la Antrell Rolle, and he showed he can do most of the skills needed for that reasonably well. He is not an outside corner and he's not a strong safety. Probably killed his momentum that had some folks (ahem, me too) slotting him in the 30-40 range, but if he times well in Indy he's still probably going to stick in the top 60 picks.
I have to give Nate Brown some credit. He improved throughout the week and I thought he looked decent in the game. His accuracy on short passes is still pathetic and he clearly needs at least two years of big-time coaching, but he's got the arm, good legs, and he showed he's a battler. At his size though I can't see him ever being more than a #2 unless he really improves his accuracy and touch. IMO he's not as good as Cullen Finnerty, who he reminds me of, but I have a GVSU bias.

About Pat Turner from an SC fans point of view he is actually one of the better wideouts we have had. he just had the misfortune of playing behind stars in jarrett and smith. then he had booty as a qb who wasn't the qb we thought he would be. but he really shined behind sanchez thisyear and i think has major upside.

What can make or break a players week of the senior bowl more? Individual drills and practice? OR The actual game?
I would assume the one on one time coaches get and drills might matter more.
