With their best linemen (LOT Andrew Gardner) out with an injury, the Wrambling Wreck of Georgia Tech had a very difficult time getting their triple option attack rolling against one of the best and deepest defensive lines in college football. On the other side of the ball, the Tigers left side with all-everything Sr. LOG Herman Johnson and very-highly regarded LOT Ciron Black were just plain bigger and stronger than Georgia Tech's D-line which has three decent PPs themselves in DE Michael Johnson, DT Darryl Richard and DT Vance Walker. The stories of the game though were the running of junior RB Charles Scott and freshman QB Jordan Jefferson who had everybody saying Perriloux who?

SCOUTING SUMMARY:

College: Louisiana State Conference: Southeastern Columnist: Craig Strachan
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class Game Notes

Tyson Jackson 93 6' 4.5" 292 5.00 DT 2009: Continues to maintain a borderline 1st-round grade despite questions about his desire and intensity. Is playing DE still, but could project to either a 3-4 DE or a 4-3 DT in the pros. Holds the POA very well as a college DE of his dimensions better. Looked explosive early, but wears down late in games. Appears somewhat lackadaisacal at times, but it could be a processing issue. Seems slow to read and react at times. Showed a very nice spin. They ran away from him a lot. General got decent pressure on the QB. Has all the physical skills. We have always wondered if he has the rest, and that question is still unanswered. GRADE: Neutral

Marlon Favorite 99 6' 1.0" 295 4.95 DT 2009: DNS, and that is a bit odd. Has the talent to play in almost anyone's interirot 4-3 rotation. Good pursuit and initial quickenss. Stout against the run. Can make a pile in short yardage, as he is hard to root out. Separates well from the OG. Breaks free and gets to the backfield. Good club. Not a stellar athlete. Smallish for an NFL DT. Grade; Neutral

Herman Johnson 79 6' 7.0" 379 5.25 OG 2009: Should be climbing. May be a first rounder now if he wasn't already. Beasty and nasty. Can not be moved. Uses his size intelligently. Not as quick as a smaller guard will be but ideally suited to a team that still really features the power run game. Manhandler on running plays and a Berlin Wall in pass pro. Only knock is shiftiness, pulling ability and concern about the 375 pounds perhaps wearing down the knees. GRADE: Positive

Trindon Holliday 8 5' 5.0" 159 4.21 WR 2010: Could be the fastest man in college football, but is still no WR. If you need a KR specialist, he's your man, but we're guessing you'll have to wait until 2010. Was always one step from breaking something. Played a little offense and is OK when handed the ball. Hands have a long way to go. Size has to be a concern, even in the return game. One good hit may finish him. ELECTRIC SPEED, and above average openfield moves. Were he coming out, we are sure someone would snatch him by the 4th because he does play a little football for a track man. GRADE: Slightly positive

Ciron Black 70 6' 5.0" 327 0.00 OT 2010: Continues to solidify his status as an early 2nd rounder. Massive frame and moves pretty well though he looks now like he could stand to drop 10-15 pounds to move even better. You are not going to run around him to the QB. You will have to fake him out and make your second move count. Powerful run blocking makes him a very valuable dual threat OT. GRADE: Positive

Demetrius Byrd 2 6' 2.0" 200 4.39 WR 2009: Always looks like he'll kill you, but doesn't always get 'er done. Shows above average receiving skills, but is no venus fly trap. Nice trianle numbers and upside. Not quite polished, but as good a 2-3rd round WR prospect as there is in this draft. Injured late--maybe a knee--MUST BE EVALUATED. GRADE: Neutral

Richard Dickson 82 6' 3.0" 240 4.75 TE 2010: Pass catching TE who has developed a very nice chemistry with Jefferson. Must get bigger and stronger without losing separation quickness. He's not coming out. More later...GRADE: Slightly positive

Al Woods 97 6' 4.0" 323 0.00 DT 2010: Came back from injury and got a couple snaps in very late as a token to his rehab. No way to grade anything here, but he should be a first rounder next year if he returns to form. GRADE: INCOMPLETE

Danny McCray 44 6' 1.0" 212 0.00 S 2010: Showed up a couple times. Nothing to write hme about. More later...

Kirston Pittman 49 6' 1.0" 250 0.00 DE 2009: He would be a star at the IAA level. Reminds me of Greg Peach the Eastern Washington star with his skill set and determination. Starting all year tells you something.

Darry Beckwith 48 6' 1.0" 232 4.55 LB 2009: Read and react LB with enough size, speed and tackling ability to be a force at the next level. Does not blow you away with physicality or productivity, but the productivity thing is a result of being on a tremendous collegiate defensive unit with a ton of playmakers. Plays the middle with hustle and intensity. Could be as productive as Patriots rookie DPOTY Jerod Mayo if he goes to a team lacking a star MLB where he can jump in and takeover...Would be perfect for a team like Detroit...GRADE: Positive

Brandon LaFell 1 6' 3.0" 195 4.48 WR 2010: Dinged himself up in pregame, but came in later on, and was easily the best WR on the field. Had an 86-yard TD bomb called back on a holding call, and very narrowly missed connecting on a similar thorw later. Shows big league separation quickness and size. If he comes out he COULD sneak into the first round and be in the hunt with DH-B for first big WR taken. GRADE: Positive

Brett Helms 74 6' 2.0" 285 5.05 C 2009: Steady and aggressive. Got called for holding once, but generally does a nice job. Can take on anyone his size and hold his own with them. May be a late pick because of his effort. Lacks size and size potential. Must go to a zone team. GRADE: Slightly positive

Colt David 6 5' 9.0" 175 4.80 K 2009: Hit an impressive 53-yarder and was nailing 60-yarders before the game. Does not kickoff. If his long accuracy improves he could stay in the NFL for a long time. GRADE: Positive

Ricky Jean-Francois 90 6' 3.0" 281 4.96 DT 2010: LSU is going to be absolutely loaded at DT next year if he and Al Woods both come back. RJ-F is a riser who looks bigger than 281. Outstanding DT quickness. If he came out this year he'd probably go in the 4th...go back young man, put up 45-11-7 or something and shoot for the first round! GRADE: Very positive

Charles Alexander 91 6' 3.0" 310 0.00 DT 2009: Gap plugger who got dinged up midway through the game and came back but wasn't that effective after coming back in. Absolutely needs to learn how to protect his legs. Decent motor and effort. Wouldn't waste a high pick, but I'd definitely bring him in for a look. GRADE: Neutral

Jacob Cutrera 54 6' 4.0" 236 0.00 LB 2010: Only in for spot duty but shows why he could be a guy we all talk about A LOT for the 2010 draft. Has the size you can't teach. Rangy and strong. gets to the ball and thumps people. May have some pass D skills to develop there too. Little not to like with this package. GRADE: Positive

Keiland Williams 5 5' 10.7" 224 4.48 HB 2010: Absolutel should stay in school. Already has that "better pro than college" label attached to him, but would be well served to really put up some numbers as the feature back next year if Scott comes out. Definitely has the triangle numbers. Slasher who needs to develop some more moves and read quicker, but he oozes ability. had a couple nice runs including an 18-yarder. GRADE: Neutral

Charles Scott 32 5' 10.6" 233 4.55 HB 2010: Has really developed into a HAMMER since being the 3rd-team back in 2007. Very productive in short yardage situations. Could be a NFL goal line specialist from year one if he declares. I'd recommend coming out now in his case, because he doesn't have much left to show, and his tires are getting a little wear on them now. Not a burner. is not going to be a fetaure back unless the Washington Redskins take him and return to the John Riggins offense. Had three TD runs and came up one shy of the record for single-season TDs at LSU. GRADE: Slightly positive

College: Georgia Tech Conference: Atlantic Coast Columnist: Steve Martin
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class Game Notes

Andrew Gardner 64 6' 5.6" 305 5.25 OT 2009: DNP injury.

Vance Walker 99 6' 2.2" 293 0.00 DT 2009: Vance did not show up much in this one, but, to be fair, he was playing against two guys who are a better 1-2 punch on the left side than half the teams in the NFL have. Steady and reliable. Was getting penetration but always too late to matter. Has enough desire and skill to be a mid-round pick. GRADE: Neutral

Michael Johnson 93 6' 6.1" 255 4.85 DE 2009: They ran away from him all day. Still, he had a sack, 4 tackles, a FF that almost became a safety, and a QBH. Shows the closing speed and moves you want in a high first-round pick. Big play man. Doesn't yet show the consistency, overall tech set, or the upper body strength that he must (and we think WILL) eventually have to be a dominant NFL DE. He and S Morgan Burnett were the lone bright spots for GA Tech in this one. GRADE: Positive

Darryl Richard 95 6' 3.7" 290 4.96 DT 2009: Played as well as anybody on the Tech D-line. Never embarrasses himself or his teammates. Smart and coachable type who will bring his lunchpail to work for the next 8-10 years as a rotational 4-3 DT at the next level. Don't draft him too high though...Not terribly explosive. GRADE: Neutral

Jahi Word-Daniels 32 5' 9.0" 194 4.50 CB 2009 : DNP Injury

Sedric Griffin 54 5' 10.6" 239 4.65 LB 2010: Did not get as much done today as he normally does. Still flashes eventual first-day talent but needed a huge game today to declare, and didn't get it. One of the better low submarine tacklers around, and has some specialness. Nasty hitter. GRADE: Neutral
