While of course I didn't discover this young man, and many have stated him as a hype job by Mayock that he does every draft, I will tell you a few things about Delmas that really impress me and if I needed a Safety I might take him late in the first. This is why.

1. What I like to call "Thunder"- Delmas has no fear laying the big hit and often throws around his body, at will.

2. Experience- The kid is experienced and he understands the game of football while possesing great instincts.

3. Ballhawking- While he can do better, he is a pretty active playmaker on the field.

4. Character- Has tremendous character.

Why he is not elite, in many opinions.

1. Size- His size and style of play could lead to injuries.

2. Elite Speed- Doesn't have the Laron Landry, Josh Barrett, or Taylor Mays speed.

3. Tackling- Needs to wrap up more. And take better Angles.

4. Lack of Competition.

Delmas does miss some tackles and needs to improve, but that can be coached up. Size in my opinion shouldn't be an issue with this guy. And he does have adequate speed, to cover the field . The lack of competition does not worry me one bit, as small school studs are proving their worth at the NFL level. I believe Delmas will be no different.

In my honest opinion he reminds me of a cross between Ed Reed and Bob Sanders. I know that is a huge comparison, but his physical style of play reminds me of Bob (Although Bob is a better tackler), and his range and instincts remind me of Ed (While Ed is by far much more of a playmaker). I consider Delmas a poor man's cross between the two, and I think he could be a difference maker in the NFL if he stays healthy. May never be Elite but if I owned a late first I would consider him. Delmas does need to imporve his angles and as I mentioned before his tackling needs to get better, and he is still a project but if I were a GM whom didn't mind developing a player who could be great, I would take a shot at Delmas. If he has a solid combine I could see him rise, if not he could not even get drafted, which would be a shame, and could be a UDFA steal for someone like Wesley Woodyard was for Denver last year. This is one of the prospects I agree with Mayock on.

With that said my top 5 Safety rankings are.

1. Taylor Mays
2. William Moore
3. Rashad Johnson
4. Louis Delmas
5. Patrick Chung
