Selvie wasn't happy with the projection he got from the NFL (not selected in first 3 rounds) so he's sticking around South Florida for another year.

Man his stock really took a hit this year. Wasn't he projected to be a top 15 pick after his sophmore year?

The NFL us NUTS!!! He IS a Top 15 pick.

Somebody made a deal with the NCAA to keep him in school to help keep the CFB ratings up with too many other juniors declaring. (My personal conspiracy theory.)

Selvie was constantly double teamed a 1st round pick for sure. Anyone got his number? I'll give him a call.

He's not Andre Smith who talks to agents too soon something like a premature ejaculation. ohmy.gif

I'll be honest with you, gang - he didn't impress me that much. I know he was injured and that he was schemed against, but I didn't see Top 15 talent out of him in the South Florida games I watched (3, if memory serves. My writeups are out there if you care to look at them).

Here's a guy who was going up against C-USA tackles and not consistently getting pressure on the QB or getting into the backfield against the run. Yes, he has a great first step and pure speed, along with hustle and good size. However, his arms look soft and he has only one pass-rush move - "beat the guy to the outside with my speed."

If he doesn't learn some more tricks, NFL O-linemen will handle him with ease. If C-USA linemen can do it, why can't pro-linemen?

Clady would eat his speed rush alive

Actually this is a good thing another year in the weight room means that a year from now a smarter, stronger 255-262 pound Selvie might be a top 10 pick next time. Running backs and CBs are the positions that seem to suffer least from coming out early. The extra size gives Selvie a better chance to be seen as a 4-3 DE, his natural position. Otherwise if he came out now he'd end up another Manny Lawson IMHO. wink.gif
