The Dallas Cowboys had the emergency necessity of unloading some character issues--even for less than market value--in an attempt to restore some team chemistry. We were very active in pre-draft trading, with the goal of unloading some malcontents, and a safety who can't cover.
PRE-DRAFT TRADES:
1. DT Tank Johnson was traded for backup RB Marcel Shipp and second-year DT Keilen Dykes.
2. In order to remove Terrell Owens painlessly, we needed to find a true #1 WR before the draft. We were able to acquire Larry Fitzgerald for a bevy of backup types: DE Jay Ratliff, OLB Bobby Carpenter, CB Terrence Newman, and WR Patrick Crayton.
3. We then let Terrell Owens and Roy L. Williams go for a fine DE candidate in Chris Harrington, and a tough cover #2 CB in Simeon Castille, plus we got a 4th round pick.
4. We traded Felix Jones for a back of equal value (Laurence Maroney) PLUS an extra 4th rounder.
DRAFT DAY TRADES:
1. We traded the 51st pick for CB Dre Bly with the idea of using him to take Newman's roster slot.
2. We traded pick #120 for insurance at RB (Cedric Benson).
DRAFT PICKS:
1. Rd 3, pick 69 Dorrell Scott-- a massive DT to replace Tank Johnson.
2. Rd 4, pick 97 Jarron Gilbert-- a big DE (6'6", 280) who some think might even be looked at as an OLB (to replace Bobby Carpenter's roster spot.)
3. Rd 4, pick 102 Barry Church, SS, Toledo is a stud safety who can cover, and is still under the radar...Roy L. Williams will not be missed.
3. Rd 4, 115: A value pick in QB/WR/RB Pat White of West Virginia who can be used an a variety of ways and will instantly add explosiveness to the offense.

NEW YORK GIANTS
The Giants have no really pressing needs, and were able to sit back and pretty much just draft BPA for depth.
DRAFT PICKS:
Rd 1, Pick 31: LeSean McCoy, RB, Pitt. Young speed back to groom who has speed and moves. Ideal change of pace to Brandon Jackson.
Rd 2, Pick 46: Clay Matthews, DE/OLB, USC. A stud pass rusher to keep the D-line versatile and fresh. Can also be used as pass-rushing OLB.
Rd 3, Pick 95: Jarrett Dillard, WR, Rice. One of the few true "hands" guys in the draft who some are comparing to Troy Brown.
Rd 4, Pick 127: Captain Munnerlyn, CB, South Carolina. Developmental CB with talent and upside.
DRAFT DAY TRADE:
The Giants traded pick # 69 for RB Ricky Williams (power RB depth behind Jacobs) and DB Jason Allen, who just needs a change of scenery and a better secondary coach to fulfill his true potential.

SUMMARY:
You can hear it over and over again, DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS, the Ravens and Steelers in the AFC Champ game only proves that point. So I set out to build an amazing Chargers defense. I felt I did a GREAT job of doing that. I grabbed Lance Briggs who is a sideline-sideline tackling machine at one ILB spot as well as plugging the hole in my secondary with Chris Harris who is a young, INCREDIBLY hardhitting SS who will force fumbles and make many tackles. It was hard trading Marcus McNeil away but L.J. Shelton is solid enough to handle the starting job until William Beatty is ready. I also brought in 2 BIG play WRs in Terrell Owens and Jeremy Maclin. I know Owens has an attitude but he makes up for that with plain amazing athleticism even as he is getting older he is still one of the NFL's most feared WRs. Maclin is a speedster with a ton of upside. He can make plays on screens, underneath routes, deep passes and in the return game. I also brought in a big, bruising RB in Jamal Lewis who can take some of the stress off LT. LT is starting to decline but Lewis can wear down defenses, take hits and then let LT come in and make big plays vs. tired defenses. Both LT and Jamal rushed for over 1000 yards this season so both are very capable RBs. I also wanted to improve the OL depth of San Diego and did that by grabbing Trevor Canfield who will take over for Mike Goff at RG when Goff retires and grabbed William Beatty who is a VERY athletic LT with a ton of upside. Beatty needs some refining but he has the size, speed and strength needed to be a great LT. I think San Diego can win a Super Bowl, they have an unbelievable defense and a very strong offense that can both grind it out on the ground and make big plays through the air.

Summery: Well it would take alot to rebuild the browns. but i think i did one heck of a job start. Although there are still some holes MLB, WR, TE. I think this team is way better. It is now a younger stronger team. I got rid of many players but it will pay off in the long run. Malcom Jenkins is a stud corner and will scare qb's for years. Eugene Monroe pairs up with Joe Thomas to form one hell of a OT pair. Shonn Greene will pair with Michael Bush to play RB. Mark Sanchez has alot more upside then Quinn thats why i chose him over Quinn. Derrick Williams is a burner a Wideout. Sen' Derrick and Moala wil be solid starters along the Dline and Pascoe is a solid big TE. I acquired some decent players like Karlos Dansby but the real steal is Ron Bartell, i didnt think i was gonna get Jenkins so i got Bartell, he has really played well for the rams and is a solid CB who has many good years ahead of him.
Many people seemed to like my draft alot so i hope that you guys vote for the browns on sheer improvement

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Players traded:
Alex Smith
Sean Mahan
Luke McCown
Sabby Piscitelli
Jeremy Trueblood
Ronde Barber
Michael Clayton
Dexter Jackson
Dre Moore
Players traded in:
RB - Pierre Thomas - Saints
DT - Gabe Watson - Zona
Within my deals, I aquired:
1st pick in Rd1
14th pick in Rd1.
13th pick in Rd2.
and in doing so, traded Rd's 3 and 4.
#1 - Michael Crabtree - WR - Texas Tech
#14 - Peria Jerry - UT - Ole Miss
#45 - Brady Quinn - QB (sending the 45th to Cleveland)
Going into FA, the Bucs needs were to retool a front 4, which had got ripped in the last four games of the season, (by any team with a RB!!!) to improve on a pass rush (F4 again) that only mustered 23 sacks in total on the year, to solidify a corp of injured RB's, and to hopefully find it's franchise QB, (something the Bucs have never had) and a target for said QB.
Oh......and a HC
Being new to all this, I didn't really "take notes" on my dealings, who for what etc?...soz.
However, I think I was able to address all the teams "needs" with the only question mark being at RT, though with Sears and Zuttah on the team, this may not be as big a problem as first thought?
In terms of the actual draft itself, I am very happy with my choices, I think Jerry and Watson (huge DT) will really compliment each other in the Tampa 2, Crabtree couldn't be anything else but a massive upgrade for a team who has found it difficult to find more than 1WR at any one time, with Crab and Bryant, the Bucs would have two very good WR's.
In getting Quinn, I have a "vet" of sorts, at least in terms of his learning curve regarding any rookie selection I could have made.
I'm pretty pleased with my mock.
PS, Appologies again for being late yesterday, unforseen circumstances unfortunatly.
Thanks for a great time people!

Summary:
The Rams had alot of holes to fill on both sides of the ball. They ranked in the bottom 10 in total offense and defense, so I had a lot of work to do. First thing I did was trade away the Rams best player. But if this season told us anything you cant win with just one player. So I dealt Steven Jackson for 4 starters (Leinart, James, Sendlein, LaBoy) and a first round draft pick which I then traded for a second round pick (Alphonso Smith) and Dexter Jackson. SO for Steven Jackson I got 6 starters out of the deal. Leinart was the key to the deal for me, I feel that he can be a productive QB in this league but the pressure in Arizona got to him. The oline was a huge problem for the Rams this past season so I needed to do some work along the front. I drafted the best OT prospect in the draft at pick 2 in Andre Smith. I also traded for Sendlein and Gosder Cherlius. Cherlius stared 13 games as a rookie at RT. The oline is much improved. I also added a few weapons on offense by drafting local product Chase Coffman, Juaquin Iglesias and making a draft day trade for Ernest Wilford. As far as the running game goes my hope is that the rushing yards can break down like this: James 600-800 yards, Pittman 400-600 yards, Jones 350+. On defense I needed some depth and playmakers in the secondary. I added Alphonso Smith who I believe is an excellent cover corner and Dexter Jackson who is a former Super Bowl MVP. Jackson will be a starter for a year or two and then Nic Harris will be my starting SS. I also added some great Dline depth by adding Dvoracek and Rubin. Dvoracek was starting for the bears until he was injured half way through this season. At linebacker is where I did the most work, I added Freeman, Fujita, Hodge, and Hillenmeyer. I feel I have much improved this team and this team can contend within the division and in the NFC. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to receive your votes. Thanks

Picks
1st- BJ Raji NT= Converting to a 3-4 was a daunted task that would likely take 2 or more seasons. Well I was going to do it one. I had to start with a NT Raji can stuff the run and is athletic. He collapses the pocket or rips by interior . I had no DT from the start who could be a successful 3-4 NT so I filled a major need with Raji.
2nd- Victor Harris CB= This was a deep draft for the CB position and at pick 45 I was very happy to see the biggest playmaker out of all of them avaliable. Harris would instantly increase the Turnovers and would learn from Champ Bailey. Excellent in run support. A great addition to the secondary.
2nd- Jonathan Luigs C= Tom Nalen retired and Wiegmann while a pro bowler is old. Luigs can be plugged in and nothing will be lost in transition. Luigs is a nasty player and will bring an attitude to an already stout line. Was very happy to get the future C at this point.
3rd- Ron Brace NT= More depth here for the NT spot. Brace was Raji's teammate in college and will add a nice rotation here. Not quite the athlete of Raji, but a great run stuffer in his own right.
4th- Jairus Byrd S = My only underclassmen, he is a ballhawk. A college CB with the size, hitting ability, and range, to move to FS. That is where he will play and be an excellent player for the future. Will learn behind Brodney Pool.
Players brought in-
RB DeAngelo Williams= Not much to say except made my offense much more dangerous.
RB Felix Jones= Can split out and play WR, amazing versatility and a playmaker that McDaniels will have fun using.
RB Aaron Stecker= Smart veteran, is serviceable questionable if he will make the team.
WR Devery Henderson= Experienced and very fast would be utilized effectively in McDaniel's offense, adds another playmaker to the offense.
DE Cory Redding= Perfect 3-4 end that I really needed to pair opposite of Marcus Thomas to make the transition to a 3-4 complete.
DE Andre Fluellen= Depth player who will play a significant role in rotation behind Redding
OLB Cliff Avril= A rookie last year who was one of the very few bright spots for the Lions. Great pass rusher and can really drop back into coverage. Played LB and DE at Purdue and belongs in my 3-4. Reminds me of Shaun Phillips but Avril is better in coverage.
OLB Darryl Blackstock= Played 3-4 OLB in college and that's where he belongs. Great pass rusher with experience dropping into coverage also.
OLB Beau Bell= Can play any spot in the 3-4. Athletic pass rusher and pass defender. Provides depth all around.
ILB Channing Crowder= Brings experience and is a force in the middle. A starter who will help out this defense tremendously
ILB Leon Williams= Williams has tremendous upside has done well in starts. He gets a great opportunity here next to Crowder.
CB Jamar Fletcher= Brings vet depth to the CB position.
FS Brodney Pool= A rangy athletic safety to cover the deep half and help in pass protection, something Denver hasn't had in quite some time.
Players lost
RB Selvin Young= More talented backs on the roster, didn't fit.
Andre Hall=See Selvin Young
Tatum Bell= See Selvin Young
WR Brandon Stokely= Is getting older, is still effective, but Deverey is his replacement and has more to offer.
DE Elvis Dumervil= Didn't fit the defense, through his lack of experience dropping back and his lack of athleticism in the open field. Solid player for a 4-3 but Denver was not running it anymore.
DE Tim Crowder= Could have maybe fit as a back up in the 3-4 but he was someone I could part with.
DT Dewayne Robertson= Doesn't fit the 3-4, and was a free player Denver got in a trade where they ended up not having to give a draft pick because of lack of playing time by him. Solid 4-3 DT though.
OLB Dj Williams= Unknown if he could play in 3-4. Injury this last season clearly affected him. Ended up with DeAngelo Williams and a 4th for Dj when it was all said and done through another trade in which I traded who I got for DJ to CAR.
OLB- Boss Bailey= Too many missed tackles, injuries, and lack of a position in a 3-4 made him expendable.
OLB Wesley Woodyard= Amazing young talent in a Cover 2 would be like Lance Briggs, unfortunately a lack of place for him in the 3-4.
MLB Nate Webster= Ummm Bad angles, undisicplined, helmet falls off every 5 plays. Expendable
MLB NIko K= Expendable
CB Dre Bly= Bly still has some juice but gambles too much at times, and has slowed down some.
CB Jack Williams= Young player who is more of a cover 2 CB, do to his lack of technique.

I addressed almost all of the Raiders' needs with only 5 trades. I never got the #1 WR that I wanted, but I have many decent WRs. I obtained Jarrett and Collie, 2 possible playmakers at WR. I also vastly improved my defense with the acquisitions of Rodgers, Geathers, Jeanty, Wright, and Pegues. I gave up no starters to obtain 5 on defense. My offense will also be vastly improved with my remodeled OLine and better WRs.

My target for this IMD and the Saints as a team was DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE. With an excellent offense already in place I wanted to work some deals that kept the offense in tact and made the defense better. An I did just that. Even added some more playmakers to the offense. Here is a list of the players added.
Tim Hightower-RB-Brings in a physical presence to carry the load with Reggie
Ryan Torain-RB-Another tough runningback who will get a share in this dynamic offense
Chris Chambers-WR-Colston is a stud and Lance Moore is a rising star, Chambers just adds another playmaking dimension to this WR core.
Michael Clayton-WR-After a hot rookie start Clayton has faced injuries and lack of production, but he is coming into New Orleans with no pressure, a chance to start over, and start healthy, and maybe reach that Pro Bowl caliber everyone expected.
Glenn Holt-WR-Burried deep on the depth chart, but will certainly get his looks, a good quick 5th WR.
Randy McMichael-TE-Jeremy Shockey is the starter, but McMichael has plenty of starting experience and can thrive working in such a talented offense where he isn't the focus of the defense.
Nick Kazcur-T-Came in from New England to bring some added power to the rigt side of that line
Brett Romberg-C-Needed some depth and he brings starting experience
Mike Gandy-T-The loss of Jamaal had to be filled. He's no Brown but he's a good starter and rounds out a still very talented line.
Tank Johnson-DT-Brings in a balance of quickness and power from the middle and will showcase finely on what is a much improved Dline.
Dewayne Robertson-DT-Comes in for the same reason as Johnson, to shore up that rush and pass defense starting from the inside
La'Rio Glover-NT-Gets the nod over Hollis Thomas because of his power. He will play a large roll in this defense, specifically rush defense, improving.
DJ Williams-OLB- A fast, explosive linebacker to come in and add a spark to this LB core. With the line doing its part, Williams will florish as a cover linebacker.
Monty Beisel-MLB-Comes in to provide depth and experience to a position that was lacking it.
Bobby Carpenter-OLB- At OSU he was a force within a tough defense, and alongside college superstar AJ Hawk. Now he gets to play behind a good Dline, and alongside 2 equally explosive LB's in Vilma and Williams. With a cast similar to what he had a OSU, Carpenter will once again be a force.
Rosevelt Colvin-OLB-Brings in a veteran depth from a winning organization
Rhonde Barber-CB-Barber is an all time great, nearing the end, he comes in not only to help shore up a pass defense that went through multiple CBs a year ago, but also to mentor the young CBs like Porter and Young who have loads of potential. Barber will form with a healthy McKenzie to be a formidable CB duo.
Michael Huff-FS-Another defensive splash, Huff replaces Harper and brings an improvement to the deep passing defense. He is a playmaking, ball-hawking safety and will have the support around him to improve and fullfill his measurables and potential.
Jack Williams-CB-Brings in more young depth, a physical and fast CB, will get to sit a few years and learn behind 2 vets in Barber and McKenzie.
Overall, I feel I improved on each side of the ball..
On Offense, Hightower and Torain will combine with Reggie to provide a 3-Headed attack on the ground and take pressure off Brees. Chambers comes in and this now becomes a very scary offense. With Colston, Chambers, Moore, and guys like Meachem, Clayton, Arrington coming off the bench, this is a DEEP WR core. Brees nearly broke the yardage mark this year without Colston for most of the year, now he will have Colston, Chambers, and then some. THe offensive line lost one star, but became deeper and more balanced. This is an explosive offense with playmakers all around.
On Defense, Glover, Johnson, and Robertson come in to shore up a line that got wore down and pounded throughout the year. They will stuff the run and allow the star DE's Smith and Grant to get after the QB. DJ Williams and Bobby Carpenter replace former starters Fujita and Shanle and immediately help the passing defense. Add in Vilma and you have a very speedy and explosive LB core, and a young one that will only improve. In the secondary Barber and Huff are added to prevent the big plays that plagued the Saints D for much of the year. Barber and McKenzie create a foridable duo on the outside, and Huff and Bullocks and balanced safety duo on the inside.
Things are looking up in New Orleans, on offense and defense. This is a very balanced team that will no doubt contend in the coming years.
Thank you all. Another fun time. I'll be back for the next one and look forward to it.
And sorry for any controvercy or confusion I may have caused, it was truly by accident if i did..

New England 2010 1
all my future picks except my first rounder next year but I have acquired two more anyway
I'll try to keep it short and sweet, the Panthers needed change, IMO their record was better than they were as their D got torn apart and the running game was their only weapon on offense.
Steve Smith caught 2 passes in the playoff loss, so he can't be considered a #1 target but he was too valuable to be my 2 so i had to trade him.
Peppers has said he doesn't want to be in Carolina anymore so it was a good bet to let him go.
Jordan Gross is in the last year of his contract and it is unlikely they will have the space to sign him, even if they do i freed up cap space, got a great young t, chris williams, and got my new steve smith, hester.
The way the D got torn up at times i had to remake it, now i Have a whole new front 4 with speed and size, I had to trade beason to get more, like the saying you must give a little to get a little.
My corrners have experience, lucas, and youth now, asher allen and tyvon branch.........
Oh and one important thing, some may say I should have gotten a qb...thats why i have loaded on draft picks next year...this is Tim Tebow's O!

K. Watson for G Barnidge

LS: Don Muhlbach
Picks:
#17 – Matt Stafford, QB - has the potential to start in week 1, but with Luke McCown more than capable Stafford can sit and learn for a while before taking over the reigns. Great value at pick #17.
#19 – Brian Cushing, LB - Another value pick and now gives the Lions a trio of very good LBers. Was basically the BPA and with all the Lions needs, that's pretty much how I tried to go from here on.
#33 – D.J. Moore, CB - What an athlete, and a true cover corner still on the board with our 3rd pick. Moore is a day one NFL starter and should end up being very, very good. Great value again.
#61 – Fenuki Tupou, OT - With a major need on the offensive line, I figured this needed to be adressed here. Tupou is still flying under some radars but not ours here at CDS.
#66 – Antoine Caldwell, C - Another value pick and on the offensive line too, double whammy! Caldwell may well be the 3rd or 4th C off the board but he'd be the top one and a high 2nd at worst in most other drafts.
#80 – Ricky Jean-Francois, DT - This kid needs a bit of work and the right type of coaching (see Schwartz, Jim) but if he'd gone back to LSU he may well have come out as a top 20 pick. Instead, getting him here was awesome.
#83 – Louis Murphy, WR - One of the crispest route runners in the SEC fell right into my lap here and although the Lions have a bad history with receivers I couldn't pass him up at this point.
Trades:
#65, Cliff Avril, Cory Redding, Andre Fluellen for #80, Elvis Dumervil, Corey Williams, Wesley Woodyard - Got myself 2 starters and a very solid backup in this trade. Besides, building the lines is what Detroit needs most, so adding Dumervil and Williams did that on the defensive side.
Leigh Bodden for #66, Ben Patrick and Victor Hobson - Leigh Bodden wasn't exactly spectacular this year and getting a high 3rd, a starting Mike and a backup I highly rate was good value I felt.
#1 for #17, Alex Smith, Luke McCown, Sabby Piscitelli, Sean Mahan - Moved back 16 spots in the 1st round and got myself 4 NFL starters...thank you very much!
Gosder Cherilus for #61 - Never really been a fan of Cherilus, so he had to go.
Overall:
I'm not going to try and fool anyone by saying this Lions team is ready to compete with the NFL's best...because it isn't. However, what it is is a vastly improved team, a team with some sort of semblance of a side which could compete in the NFL and win a few games. It may not be pretty at times, but bearing in mind how this team looked when I started, I feel this is a significant upgrade that I hand back to the people of Motown.
