Bob Sanders (among many others) is out, and the 1st addition is Capers. I am excited for this change. Capers brings in a fairly good reputation, but that will also mean a big change.

Capers brings in a strong 3-4 background. It may mean some personal changes, moving guys around, but I think it is a change that will work for the Packers. McCarthy is a supporter of this style of defense and he and Capers will know doubt find the best way to make it work with this roster.

My thoughts are that they will create a hybrid 3-4 4-3 scheme, similar to what is ran in Miami an New England. I don't anticipate having a fierce defense like the Steelers or Ravens right away, but we still have a fairly young D overall and they will have a chance to grow in the 3-4 scheme. I think this will benefit Barnett and Hawk in particularly. Barnett could move outside, Hawk would be able to play all 4 positions, but both would be more free to roam, something they both excel in. Pickett is an ideal 3-4 NT. Not your Casey Hampton or Jamaal Williams, but he will hold his own. If Jenkins can bulk up just a little more he can excell on the outside, and Kampman will be our own Jason Taylor, only 10 years younger. We may still need to work on having a more pure DE to play the line with Pickett and Jenkins however. This will also give Desmond Bishop and Abdul Hodge chances to see the field more. They have both preformed respectably in the spot duty, and Hodge esspecially would fit nicely in the middle. I think it may take a year to gather the right personal the right personal, but overall I like this move.

Thoughts?

I agree with almost everything you said except I do not, i repeat do not want desmond bishop on the field as a starter! Oh and Hodge is gone im pretty sure, isn't he with the Bengals?

tis true i feel sad concurring but Abdul Hodge is indeed a Cincinnati Bengal now

Brandon Chillar could get more time then tho and he did pretty good with St Louis before becoming a Packer
