1st William BeattyOT, Max Unger C, Alex Mack C , Eben Britton OT
2nd Jarron Gilbert DE, Rashad Johnson FS,

IDK if gilbert will be at 64. I'd like to see them get Tyson Jackson, but they'll probably have to move up to do that. If they are at 32 with Jackson off the board I'd try to trade down a few spots and take one of the first rd guys or Gilbert. Even if it's in the mid to high 30 I'd take gilbert there.

I have the Steelers taking Beatty in the first, Gilbert or Connor Barwn in the second.Eric Wood the 3rd,Dominique Johnson 3rd,Anthony Parker 4th,Massaquoi 5th,Wompami Osaisai 6th, Gregg Carr 7th. We get a tackle, center, guard 2wr's for the offense and a DE and a CB for the D! Osaisai is a return man and backup corner. A nice solid draft.

Steelers get a 5th rd. Compensatory pick for Alan Faneca. I believe # 169. So they now have 2 5ths and 2 7ths. As well as one pick in all the other rounds.

Im sorry about my mock, I just knew we would get a third for Faneca. A 5th! Wow!

No worries bigsmooth. This was just announced today and nobody understands the formula. I guess the Pats understand it. They got some pretty good picks.

Im not gonna sweat it. This draft will not be pretty for Steeler fans but it will be effective!!!I would still like to have that draft class. I think it would be pretty good.Any thoughts?

Looks good. IDK if Gilbert will be there in the 2nd. I think he could go anywhere from 25 to 45. Beatty would be OK by me. I would be OK taking Gilbert in the first. He led the nation in TFLs and has the size and wingspan to be effective in the 5 technique. Not too many guys out there who can do what we ask of our DLs.

I just worry about him being a one year wonder> I guess I would just feel better if we could get him in the 2nd.(If hes still there!!)What do you think were gonna draft in the 1st? Check out Connor Barwin, I think he will be another Smith, add about 20-25 lbs and he will be pretty good.
bwalker
Some teams are looking at Barwin as a LB. As a DE he'd have to sit and put on weight to play in the Steelers 2 gapping system. He's a great athlete though.

Thats exactly what I was hoping for! Remember thats exactly what Smith did. When we drafted him he was about 265- 270lbs and the Steelers put 30 lbs on him..Who do you think will be our first roundpick?
bwalker
I'd be OK with any of the lineman we're hearing a lot of: Beatty, UNger, or Mack. Also Gilbert would be OK by me in the first. It's so late you almost have to look at it as a 2nd. I'd prefer probably a trade down 4 or 5 spots and land someone and then trade up in the late 2nd or 3rd. The value is in the 2nd-4th rounds.

PS Welcome to the site Bigsmooth! We gotta get some more Steelers fans posting. Tell your friends!!!

Thanxs bwalker! I think were gonna have to trade some picks,we dont seem to have alot of cash! I'm hopng that we sign George Foster (free agent) then we could maybe go cb or maybe even wr in the first. I would really like to get Gilbert in the first but I worry about him being a one year wonder!

Personally, I would like to see the Steelers trade up and grab one of the top 4 OT's but that won't happen. I like Darius Butler or D.J. Moore, I'm not sold on William Gay replacing Bryant McFadden. Townsend is also going to be 34 so youth is needed.

I agree Hopz youth is needed at cb,I just think that we finally have to get a good starting LT.Maybe we can get a decent cb in the second round.Check out some of the second round corners, some are'nt so bad.

I myself would like to see the Steelers select C Alex Mack or a DE/NT. I would love to see the Steelers with the opportunity to take FS Patrick Chung from Oregon as well, man he would be a great fit across from Troy Polomalu for years to come I think.. I dont know how early it would have to happen, but I would like to see them grab WR Brian Robiskie from Ohio State also. And to finish out my wish list I would like to see the Steelers use a pick on FB Quinn Johnson from LSU.

I would love for the Steelers to take Sean Smith in rd 1. He is capable of playing multiple positions in the secondary and would have more impact than a lineman at 32. Unless Ty Jackson or one of the good wideouts slide(maybe Beatty). My reasoning is, the linemen wont play immediately anyway while at the other positions we have depth issues.
bwalker
Really happy with the Steelers Draft this year. Like all the picks and the value we got. Every major need was addressed twice. OL , DL, CB. Some secondary needs were also addressed. I think they have set themselves up quite well.
bwalker
5th Rd pick Frank Summers will get a good chance to win the short yardage back. They also have Rashard Mendenhall coming back from a collar bone injury. RB looks pretty deep for the Steelers.
