If you surround Jason with the offensive talent that Matt had he'd have had a similar, if not better season.

But I agree those 2 teams can help each other.

Denver signed away the Pats UFA #3 WR, Jabar Gaffney, for a reported 4-year deal worth $10 Million. That makes WR a definite priority in the draft for NE, especially now that TE and RB have already been addressed.

The word we are hearing is that Kansas City's new GM, Scott Piolo, former Personnel Director of the Patriots, had a deal all ironed out last night with New England that would bring QB Matt Cassel to the Chiefs for undisclosed compensation. However, even though NFL Network had announced the trade was completed at 1:00 PM, the final details are now being held up (as of 1:30 PM ET on 2/28) due to the fact that Cassel had not completed the fincal codicil of the trade by agreeing to a new long-term contract with the Chiefs.
As a result of that delay, reportedly a "mystery team" is now in the running for the Patriot's signal caller. Speculation early in the day had it that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were in the running for the rights to Cassel and had actually agreed on compensation (i.e. this year's 19th pick of the first round, plus next year's second-round pick.) The situation remains extremely fluid, but this all appears to be very good news for Patriots fans, as what they really needed was a bidding war for Cassel's services which now appears to be udnerway.
The fact that New England Pro Bowl linebacker Mike Vrable was traded last night for an undisclosed draft pick had many people assuming that Pioli may have had a deal in the works with the Patriots for weeks to bring both Cassel and Vrabel to Kansas City in some sort of mega-trade. However, at this point all bets are temporarily off and it will remain to be seen what the "mystery team" is willing to do to shake up the Chiefs plans, and indeed the free agency market for the remaining FA quarterbacks available.

Tom Curran of NBC Sports.com is reporting that all the Patriots are getting back for BOTH Vrabel and Cassel is the 34th pick.
New England fans have every right to be absolutely TICKED off if that is the case.
If that is all we get back for a Pro Bowl LB and a potential franchise QB, then Pioli had some hold over BB, and some way to stiff the team, and the fans who paid his salary for all of those years.
The Patriots have confirmed that is all that the Patriots are getting back...the 34th pick for two starters.

Why? We do just as good of job finding starters in late rounds of the drafts as any other team, if not better. Chris Chester will be fine at center, I don't even know why Jason Brown was so highly sought after. Reminds me of last year when everyone was freaking out giving the Ravens tackles in round one because Ogden retired, but all the Ravens fans knew Gaither would do just fine, and he did.
Trust me, we'll be fine with out Jason Brown and Bart Scott, I'm not even worried about it at all.

Denver continues to go nuts in free agency, signing CB Andre Goodman, LB Andra Davis, DT Ronnie Fields (2 years, $5 million), and DT Darrell Reid.
Jacksonville has signed CB Scott Starks.

The big story from yesterday's Baylor Pro Day is that only three teams showed up to see OT Jason Smith (and their other prospects) perform: Seattle, Cincinnati and Jacksonville. Smith's arms were shorter than at the combine (?), measuring 33 1/8". The important part is what I've been telling people who will listen for months...he really struggles anchoring against power. He did very poorly in the Push/pull drill which measures lower-body strength and anchoring ability.
