Come in and immediately diss and severely hurt the relationship with your franchise QB. Jay Cutler now wants out and says the relationship is "beyond repair." Thoughts from anyone...

I think that reason that McDaniels wants to get rid of Cutler, is because he fears that Cutler won't take orders from him, being a star QB with a lot of experience. McDaniels wants a guy that he raised and brought up, somebody that will take orders from him. After three years of listening to one of the better coaches in NFL history in Mike Shanahan, what leads you to believe that Jay Cutler will want to take orders from a Rookie head coach, and a guy who isn't really that much older than him???

Jay Cutler is a whiny baby, he always has been...good luck to McDaniels dealing with Cutler. If I were McDaniels, if I can get a very good deal for Cutler...I'd move him. He's too much of a headache.
Johanns21
I would love to see him in a Bears uniform. Broncos can have Kyle Orton.

What high profile professional athlete isn't difficult to deal with in some capacity?

Bottom line is Mc Daniels F-ed up here, not Cutler.

Memo to Jerry Angelo: Call the broncos and see what they want for Cutler.....Or just bring back the d@mn T formation!
Bendo
Cutler did not say the situation was "beyond repair," in fact having said any relationship can be mended. Gonna take a long time, though. He spoke with B Marshall, E Royal, T Scheffler and C Weigmann, and they're all **ssed.

Wonder if that had anything to do with Prime Idiot #1 Marshall getting arrested (again)?

mcdaniels plan only works if he actually pulled it off . by failing to move cutler in one fell swoop he has peed in the bathwater . good luck with that one , no matter what happens from this point forward cutler will always have it the back of his mind " they tried to trade me " . it will however make the KC vs DEN games more intriguing for the battle for 2nd place status in the afc west

Yeah, this is not the thing you want your players thinking about before camp and the draft if you're a new coach.

Reports are coming out that McDaniels did NOT eff up...Cutler actually asked for a trade after the OC went to USC...and is now making himself look like a victim and McDaniels a villain by complaining about the team trying to suit him and looking into trade deals. You never know how true these reports are but if this is true, I underestimated Cutler's whiny *****yness.
Broncosfan713
Cutler is a whiny guy sometimes, but regardless he is the face of the franchise and easily our most promising player. The offseason was going so well too before this. I just hope they can mend their relationship and get back onto the winning mode instead of the whining one.
Vikeswookie
Sage, TJack and a 3rd in '10 for Cutler... i heard it from a little birdie.

Wow, that birdie has a drug problem. Denver would be voted out of the league if they made that trade.

I assume you are kidding.
Broncosfan713
I think I'd dig a hole and bury myself in it if Denver made that trade haha.
dolfan75070
Maybe they'll just take Mark Sanchez with their first round pick??? That would make things interesting.
daddy woz
things could have been alright all the way around if the deal for cassel went through the way it should have (the three way denver-new england-tampa deal).

i wouldn't have minded seeing cutler in the creamsicles.
B_rent87
What are all of you thinking for thinking that McDaniels was thinking about anything? wink.gif

Worst deal ever. That's like the Broncos saying "Hey give us a bunch of worthless crap and we'll give you a franchise/pro bowl Quarterback!"

Cutler ain't goin' no where.

It was Detroit, not Tampa...
daddy woz
tampa was also a destination.

Cutler was angered during the weekend when his name came up in talks involving a three-way trade that would have sent him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and landed Cassel in Denver.

the other stories you could find on it (just now, on si.com and espn.com), say the same things.

This is a QB who will never...and you can say you heard it here first...will NEVER win a Super Bowl...unless he's sitting on the bench near the end of his career backing up a WINNER...which he is not, and never will be. What good is a canon arm, with mush between the ears? I remember a guy with an arm probably better than Cutler's...and he basically had the same problem...his name...Jeff George. Tell me how many SBs he won.

I pointed this out two years ago when Cutler deflected the blame of his idiotic and immature on field display to Phillip Rivers when the Broncos played the Chargers, and Rivers started yelling congratulations to his defense, and Cutler thought he was talking to him. The Denver Post (sometimes known as the Denver Enquirer in intellectual circles) took Cutler's side, just as they've done in this issue. When Cutler had the chance to put his money where his mouth is (of course we all know he's better than John Elway...we didn't need him to tell us that), he fell flat on his face, and was completely outplayed by Phillip Rivers in the game for all the marbles for the AFC West title at the end of last season. His arm is far better than Rivers' arm, but Rivers is a far better QB than Cutler is, and he proved it. Chad Pennington has a rag arm, and he's a better bet to take a team to the Super Bowl than Cutler is, IMO. Cutler, IMO, is a PUNK...and he looked like he was so out of place in the Pro Bowl it was pitiful.

I say this to Denver fans...WAKE UP!!! I'll flat our guarantee you there are few, if any professional athletes today, including LeBron James, whose name has not come up in a trade discussion. The reality is, EVERYONE is available...for the right price. Everyone. What makes Jay Cutler so different from everyone else?

Now, were there some mistakes made here? Sure. The problem I have is this crybaby can't realize there is a new system coming to town, and he just might not put up the numbers he has in the past because he might not fit the new system. He fit the West Coast offense Shanny installed and he grew up in. It's likely McDaniels realizes this, and that's why he and the Broncos entered into the bidding for Cassel...they were just too late for Belichick had already made his deal.

I could go on and on why this would have been a good deal for Denver, and perhaps helped them unseat the Chargers within a year or two, but the point I really wanted to make is Cutler is a LOSER...and always will be.

I think Cutler turns out to be Denver's version of TO...have fun.

WOW NY don't beat around the bush tell it like it is...haha

I have to agree with you about Cutler in the PB, he sure stunk it up for the AFC. I still believe he can be a very good QB but has a lot of maturing to do.
Broncosfan713
Cutler is a premature baby at times yes, and this situation is partially his fault. But still McDaniels is an idiot coming in here and trying to trade the franchise QB right off the bat especially for a guy like Matt Cassel who I think we all can agree is not even near the same talent as Cutler is.

McDaniels has since had several oppurtunites to right the ship by telling Cutler he is his guy and that he is fully committed to Cutler, but instead he has just bashed him by saying every player is tradeable blah blah blah. What McDaniels and the Broncos need to realize is that we will under no circumstances receive equal trade value for Jay and dealing him will severely push back the franchise for many years.

This whole situation just sickens me, and I really hope somehow they can work it out.

I will have to disagree with you here, Broncosfan. Cutler has shown he has "franchise" QB potential, but he has yet to display "franchise" QB stuff. For the type of offense McDaniels is likely to be installing, Cutler very well may not be Cassel's equal, or even close. I do think things could have been handled a bit differently...on both sides.

However, football is a business. Cutler knows this, and there seems to be rumors, strong ones I might add, that suggest Cutler asked to be traded a full two weeks before the Cassel thing ever materialized because he knows he doesn't fit into McDaniels offense like he did Shanny's. It just seems to me, as an outsider who has naturally looked very closely at this ever since it broke, that Cutler and his agent have chosen to force the Broncos hand, rather than truly find a way to make things work...or at least try to...and the Cassel ploy just made it easier for them to make the Broncos look like the bad guys, which is why I believe Bowlen has stood by McDaniels so steadfastly, since he knows all the details...which, I might add, I do not. However, all the credible evidence seems to point to this being the case.
