--------------------------

After the Draft, Andrew Girvan (RedRaider80) will open a new thread where we will each post all of our moves: trades, draft picks, etc.

THEN, we will all vote on the winner of the IMD (probably by private messaging to RedRaider80, though he might make a new thread for that purpose too, we'll see...) and that person will be publicly congratulated with a News Article on our HomePage, etc., that will summarize what he did to win!

HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!

I'll take the Bears.

I like option #2 a lot more than option 1. We're far along enough in FA, and will be even more so by the time this fills up and gets started, that we already know where 90% of the big FA's are. Just add the guys to their teams as they sign in real life, and we'll have close to all the FA class accounted for.

I agree...no FA tenders. It'd burn you out.

I'll take the NY Giants.

Don't forget the News Article, RR80.

I'm psyched to have you taking over!

My most honest opinion, and no offense intended, toward anyone or their vote.

I believe that there's two choices, though not necessarily the two given above. Although, I know that's the two I'd have to choose from...lol. But just to share my thoughts: Either we start at year's end and do our own FA, (including cuts, tenders, signings, etc.), or we start with the rosters as they were before year's end and forget about FA.

Everyone needs to know their roster, and have full control over said roster the moment we start this IMD. Our teams would not only be voted on by what we did to improve our teams but by what the real GMs did to improve them, consciencely or unconsciencely. So, by adding players as they are signed in real life just doesn't make sense to me. Sorry.

Besides, do you really think that I want Mike Brown or Marvin Lewis controlling any part of my Bengals' signings, etc.? OUCH!...lmao.

I just thought I'd throw in my two cents, that's all. So don't think too poorly of me. wink.gif

I see where you're coming from, but I just don't see the point in bidding on FAs any more for two reasons.
1) It's already done for the most part in real life.
2)We're trying to break in a new commish here, and I really don't want to wade him down in his first effort.

I'd be cool with us bidding on the remaining UFAs if that's what people want to do rather than just add them as they sign. However, there's no reason for starting all over through FAs, beyond the fantasy imaginationland standpoint. Just too much complication for something that's already been settled by the guys who make the big bucks (for good reason) to run teams, for it to make sense to do a whole re-boot of the off-season.

I'm down with setting a cutoff date for signups/startup date, going with the way FA has played out before then, and bidding on the remaining FAs. Starting over, however, seems a bit myopic considering the circumstances.

I'll take the Packers, please.

I'm gonna take the Texans this go around, and Denver later if nobody wants em.
Vikeswookie
Vikes!

i'm not sure what option would be best... i like having control of my franchise, but overall it's much more involved for everyone.

i'd say i like krs' statement... go with the IMD from this date forward. any FAs signed prior to are on that respective team... FAs still in the pool receive offers from our clubs. there needs to be a line drawn in the sand (date)...
rockfromcon
i'll take the niners

This may sound like an odd question [lol], but how many rounds is this IMD?

I know how many I'd want. smile.gif

1st I'd like to congradulate RR. I look forward to you running the show.

Now, I'd like to take....the EAGLES. If needed I'd be happy to take another team down the line.

This is again up to everyone!! If people have time for 7, and are dedicated to be here, than that's fine.

I'd be up for trying 7....

And, I think it'd be best, if possible, to have it where we take the teams as they are currently, and make the remaining decisions. Set a date, sometime soon to end the outside activity influence.

Like say the Eagles sign Derrick Brooks, that move counts for the Eagles within this IMD, unless its after the set date. This date would also be the soonest FA's could be signed within the IMD. I hope that made sense lol...
Mr. Knowitall
I'll choose #2 and take the Chiefs. I am also up for doing 7 rounds if others are willing. I chose #2 because FA is really hard to keep track of and very time consuming and I don't want to burn RR out in his first IMD. smile.gif

That's why I had suggested reverting back to the rosters at year's end, for this first IMD. It would give the time needed for FAs to finish signing their contracts and then it wouldn't be necessary to have a FA cut off date (or the hassle of having to keep track of players from real life signings).

IMO, it would've been the easiet overall way for RR to get his feet wet. Apparently, I'm the only one that fully agrees with me, and my simple philosophy on the issue.

When you're a Bengals' fan, you have to be simple-minded, so you can figure out what the heck Mike Brown is thinking every offseason. If you noticed, in the FA IMD that just got cancelled, I tagged Graham, before he did. wink.gif lol
Vikeswookie
If the Bengals could hire Al Davis for their GM spot they'd be set!

NHFalcon
I'll take the Falcons, please.

I would vote to exclude free agency completely and just draft with the knowledge of what your team has done in real-life free agency in mind, if that's an option. If not, then I'd vote for option #2.

I'd also be up for a 7-round IMD.

Thanx,
NHFalcon

Hopz323
I'll take the Steelers if they are still available.

If I get a team, I think 7 rounds is good and option #2 for FA. No tenders.

Glad we're going 5 Rounds and I like the idea of starting from where we're at now

If it's at all possible, could we start a little later than 1pm EST?

Final announcements for how FA will be run will be made tomorrow between 2-3 PM.

Remember this is all about FUN. So let's have some!

We still need 17 GMs! Tell your friends on the non-internet world about these.
RedRaider80
OK so here's the deal with this. I realized how long it takes to do FA on my part, so unfortunately there won't be any this time. I really like how Mike said, that even if we do our own semi FA thing, we would be consciously or unconsciously voting for the winner based on what the real GMs did prior to the start date. With that said, we will be using the rosters from the end of the season. All cuts and FAs are back on there 2008 season teams. The draft will be 5 rounds, and the time will be between 3-5 PM on 4/4. Trades can now begin! If any questions, post them here or send me a PM. Remember: We need more users!

Oh you're coming after me?...lol. That's cool.

I made the suggestion that either a full FA (with everything included), OR reverting back to the season's end rosters. At that point, as far as making it easiest on anyone wasn't the point. Just suggesting (IMO) the only two choices that this IMD should go. It was moreso pertaining to having full control over our rosters from day one, that's all. And that's the only two ways that I felt were obvious choices, (IMO).

I PMed my suggestions because I was asked to share any and all of my opinions. I then received a PM in return asking me to voice them all here instead, so I did. And it was ONLY a suggestion.

With that statement, I wasn't worrying about being easy on no one, no way, or no how. Though one of the two choices that I suggested would've easily made it easiest on our new Commish. Obviously, the other choice was harder on him. Thus making no sense to me as to why anyone wanting to make it easiest on our new Commish would choose FA, be it partial or full. Not to mention keeping track of what real NFL GMs were doing to and/or for these IMD teams. That's partial control over one's roster. Thus a cut off date making no sense to me, either.

With that said. I'm not the boss here, nor am I even remotely asking to be. Those were my suggestions, either/or, if it were to make any sense.....IMO. I was asked to post them.

Thank you.

To make the 4 above people happy, then I WILL do the 2nd option. Cap numbers will not be available til late afternoon tomorrow however. Any FA that signs before midnight, will be on their new team. The rest of the FA will be like CJs from last year. Everyone will PM me their offers. Also NO CUTS TO BE MADE.... I hope this gets better results from you IMDers

Andrew,

That isn't waht I had in mind. Maybe it was for the others, but...

All I was saying is, NO FREE AGENCY at all, to keep it simple for you and for us.

I would suggest that we each just have our rosters set as they are as of today in real life, and that any FA moves our real life teams may make between now and our IMD mean nothing.

Otherwise, you get burned out on it.

That's what I was thinking. Just include the signings made right now and the current FAs will just not be used.(so wait does that mean the Rams lose Holt and Pace since they cut them very recently?)

The truth contains ALL of, and not one small part of something. You chose one sentence of my entire post, probably because you didn't like, or agree with something. And that's 'telling the truth'. Therefore I explained ALL of my words from that previous post. The words "oh you're coming after me" was only meant in a joking fashion, hence my lol. And if you knew me good enough, you'd know that. However, since you apparently don't, then don't try to explain the meanings of my words, or in this case part of my words. It takes them out of context. Thank you very much. wink.gif

Also, I don't protest like you're implying. Therefore, the krs1 doth thinks too much, MEKNOWS!
