Sources inside the Detroit Lions organization have confirmed that the team has pulled the trigger on a deal which would send the first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and the Lion's second round pick in 2010 to the Broncos for disgruntled Denver quarterback, Jay Cutler. Cutler--whose widely-publicized falling out with new head coach Josh McDaniels could apparently not be rectified--had made it plain in recent days that he no longer had any desire to play for the Broncos after his name was raised in connection with trade rumors involving the Patriots QB Matt Cassel.

According to team personnel who wished to remain anonymous, the talks between the Lions and the agent for Mr. Cutler heated up significantly last night after Cutler made his intentions clear to the Broncos in terms of his desire to play elsewhere.

The Lions are also reportedly close to signing Cutler to a five-year deal reportedly to be in the neighborhood of $55 million.

I hope this isn't a bad April Fool's Day joke. Otherwise, good for Det.! And if so, Denver probably drafts the QB of their liking.
