* Trading away Willis McGahee and Terrell Suggs was our main goal of the off-season. We did not want locker room problems next season at all, and dealing the injury prone, aging, and often upset McGahee will do wonders for our team morale. We used pick 60 for McGahee to acquire one of the biggest steals of the draft in taking Donald Brown out of Connecticut. We feel we got a younger, more talented backl with the pick that has a great morale. We are also happy to get rid of Suggs, though he was a great player, we can't be concerned with negotiating a long term deal with him, it is too difficult. Instead we brought in the very talented Julius Peppers, who get to come in and sign a long term deal playing the position he wants. He will also get a chance to make a Super Bowl run playing for the best defense in the NFL over the past ten years. We also got the Eagles second round pick next year in the deal!
*We were also happy to get rid of Jarrett Johnson for a third rounder. We feel he has been a weak link in our defense for the past 3 years, and doesn't possess the physical skills and talent to be a Baltimore Raven and to play for the best defense in the NFL.
*We were sorry to see Justin Bannan go as he is a great talent. However we had a small need at corner back and feel that Rod Hood will be a great addition to our secondary. Bannan was also very expendable after drafting Jarron Gilbert and Clinton McDonald, who we expect to be the future of our defensive line. We think that after Trevor Pryce and Kelly Gregg retire, McDonald, Gilbert and Haloti Ngata will become the most dominant defensive line in the NFL, and could be come one of the best defensive lines of all time. That is how excited we are about the potential in these two prospects.
* We were very happy to make the trade with Cleveland that gave us two early second round picks for pick 26 and our 4th round pick. The trade gave us 4 second round picks which we used to draft 4 prospects with 1st round grades.
Overall: There is not a single hole in our depth chart, we managed to get much younger on defense, and eliminated 2 potential locker room problems. We feel more than confident that Joe Flacco can manage the offense, allowing our defense to carry us to the Super Bowl in 2009.
* We feel that we had the best over all draft of any team by far, with the exception of Patriots coming in a close second.

The Cleveland Browns entered the draft with picks at #5, #36, #50 and #100.
We chose Rey Maualuga to solidify the linebacking corps at #5, then swung a trade involving picks #36 and #50, in return for picks #26 and #88.
With the newly-acquired pick #26 we drafted CB Darius Butler who many believe may be the best pure cover corner available.
At #88 we drafted an aggressive safety in Darcel McBath of Texas Tech.
With pick #100, we selected a solid all-purpose back in Virginia's Cedric Peerman

The Miami Dolphins entered the draft with picks #25, #44, #56, #87, #122 and #153.
With the 25th pick we selected Percy Harvin, the all-everything multi-purpose WR/RB from Florida to add punch to the offense.
With the 44th pick we grabbed Patrick Chung, and enforcer type safety from Oregon.
With the 56th pick we took USC's Fili Moala to fill in some depth along the defensive line.
With the next three picks (87, 122, 153) we swung a trade, moving up to the 74th pick where we selected one of the best cover corners available, in San Jose State's Christopher Owens.
All four players will start from day one and have major impacts.

The New York Giants entered this draft with serious needs at WR, OT and depth a RB.
Prior to the draft, we trade pick #60 for RB Willis McGahee.
Entering the draft we had then picks #29, #45, #91, #125 #143 and #156. As with all teams who are very good, we need quality additions rather than numbers of bodies. So, we trade our last four picks for pick #66.
At #29 we selected Will Beatty, the fine young LOT candidate from UConn.
At #45 we selected the most NFL ready WR in the draft in Ohio State's Brian Robiskie.
At #66 we grabbed another huge receiving threat in USC's Patrick Turner.

Summary
Our blockbuster trade was with the Detroit Lions. Maybe it was a trade that didnt need to be made, but we felt that it could help us in the long run. We gave up talented, but disgruntled receiver Anquan Boldin, 2 players, and 2 picks for Calvin Johnson and a 5th rounder. Jared Cook was a great addition to our offense thinking he can get vertical down the field giving Kurt Warner another threat to go to along Fitzgerald and Johnson. We feel that Edgerrin James has hit his high and that Tim Hightower needs a backup, so we were able to get Jeremiah Johnson late in the 4th round. Our offensive line is getting older so with pick 141 we selected Greg Isdaner to give us some depth and versatility on the O-Line. Late in the 5th round we took cornerback Mike Mickens from Cincinnati. We traded Rod Hood to Baltimore so we felt there is a need and depth at corner so that's the reason for the selection. And with our last pick, and second-to-last of the draft, we were able to get Jason Phillips, who we felt was highly regarded and fell way down the board and we were fortunate to get him. We are going to plug him in to one of the starting inside linebacker spots. Maybe our best acquisition, Justin Bannan, will start at nose tackle, which lets us move Darnell Dockett to the defensive end position opposite Bertrand Berry. We lost Clark Haggans and Rod Hood due to trades which knocks out some depth, but feel that it was best for the team. We feel that we addressed our needs through trade (NT) and the draft (TE, RB, OG, CB, ILB) and feel that we are a better football team now than we were just a few days ago.

Entering this offseason, a few of the Eagles goals were;
Getting more offensive weapons-Yes, while this resulted in lossing McNabb, he was only getting older and has had recent injury issues. Now Kolb and newly acquired Jake Delhomme and Alex Smith will compete for the starting job. While we like Kolb very much, and anticipate him as franchise face for the next 10 years, competition will only help. Bringing in a vet in Delhomme who can start if needed, and a past #1 Overall looking for new life, should bring out the best in Kolb in what should be a very heated QB battle. At RB we still have the superstar Brian Westbrook, but he's aging. We we able to get some great depth for him in Laurence Marooney, Mewelde Moore, and a raw but talented young guy in Jackie Battle. Altogether they should form a very strong RB corps, taking enough pressure off Westbrook for him to excel.
In the receiving department, we added some explosive weapons for Kolb. First at TE, Vernon Davis. We believe that Davis' physical talents were just too good to pass on and anticipate him reaching his pro bowl potential. And one of our favorite additions, Jeremy Maclin at WR. He is a bit more of a polished WR then Jackson was coming out, but brings just as much explosion to the offense and return game. He and Jackson will scare and punish any opposing defense.
Another goal was to remain young. Now most will immediately look and see just one draft pick and think this is a veteran ran team but heres a stat for you all. The average starters age on the Eagles offense is 26.7, and 25.3 on defense, an overall average of 26. This is still a young team, ready to roll for years to come.
Final goal was to keep the D fairly intact. For the most part I think this was done. Dawkins was lost via FA, and will surely be missed, but Atari Bigby and DeJuan Morgan are similar players with slightly more limited coverage ability but will grow wonderfully in a Jim Johnson defense. Demps and newly signed Sean Jones will compete for the other S position. Samuel remains a cornerstone at CB, and his new running mate Richard Marshall is no pushover. While Brown was lost, I think Marshall has more potential. In the Front 7 I believe we only got better. We added and Explosive rusher in Suggs, and a solid DE overal in Hali, with guys like Michael Montgomery and Jarvis Green coming off the bench. We added depth in the middle with Mike Wright and Colin Cole to solid vets. And in the linebacking core we added playmaker Derrick Johnson in place of Gaither and added Brandon Chillar as a very capable backup.
Overall, I think this is an improved team in many regards. Maaybe a year away from a superbowl as Kolb will need time to grow, but wen he does, the ENTIRE surounding team is ready to go.
It was fun guys, I look forward to future IMD's...

Players Acquired:
Early Doucet-Young Wide reciever who will be a solid WR in the future
Anquan Boldin- Slight downgrade from Calvin but considering picks i got, it was well worth it
Ben Patrick- Solid TE who will compete for starting job opposite Bear Pascoe
Nick Kazcur- Will play LT or RT opposite of Gosder Cherilos
Montrae Holland- Guard who will start for Detriot
Kyle Orton-Will play great inside insted of Chicago
Trumaine McBride- Solid CB depth
Review: I wanted a challenge for this IMD, so the i took the plunge and chose the Detriot Lions. How do you improve an 0-16 team? First you make a trade for a capable QB (Jay Cutler), it took alot to get Cutler but when Chicago sent me an offer for him, i couldnt refuse. I got a first round pick(18) that was better then the one i traded(20). And i got a 2nd round pick and a third! I had to trade him.
Kyle Orton was also in the deal. Although Orton is no Jay Cutler, Orton will excell indoors in detriot insted of the windy Chicago. I also recieved Trumaine McBride for CB depth.
I acquired several players i think will help this team in the long run, Montrae Holland was a backup in Dallas, he is a solid guard who i think can start for Detriot. Nick Kazcur was starting for the New England Patriots, so he will be apart of the new oline here in Detriot as a starting tackle.
I also delt Calvin Johnson, this was extremely difficult for me, trading him can make or break your IMD. But i feel like the stuff i got back was tramendous enough for me. Anquan Boldin is an elite WR in this league. Ben Patrick and Early Doucet are nice pieces to the puzzle. And i got multiple picks including a first rounder! To me it was a no brainer.
In the draft, picking Aaron Curry was a no brainer. IMO he is the #1 player in this draft. And when i got Kyle Orton, it was a no brainer. At 18 i chose Peria Jerry, a future probowler who has a great mix of run stuffing and pass rusher. He is a great addition to the team. At 31, i picked CB/FS Sean Smith. He helps the secondary tremendously, whether at FS or CB. The defense just looks and will play better with these 1st round picks. At 33, I picked Alex Mack. He starts at Center. He is a future probowler and the best center to be drafted in a while. At 53, i picked Hermon Johnson, Guard from LSU. He will start at guard for us opposite Montrae Holland. In the third round i picked Rhett Bhomar, a future starter in the league i feel. He could overtake Orton some day. I also picked Bear Pascoe, a TE who can start for Detriot.
I hope that you will vote for me, out of all my IMD's i feel like this one is my best. I have never won one before and im looking to win this one.
Hope you vote for me!

Draft Picks: Aaron Maybin DE Penn St (1/24), Ron Brace DT Boston College (2/55), Cody Brown OLB UConn (3/90), James Casey TE Rice (4/121), Eric Thatcher S Pitt (5/135, & Joe Burnett CB UCF (5/152)
Summary: being a disciple of Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli, Atlanta GM Thomas Dimitroff followed the "Patriot Way" in free agency and made a few, small, fairly under-the-radar signings to either build depth and/or fit the team's offensive and defensive schemes. The big names that left were allowed to do so as Dimitroff stuck to his gameplan of building a team that was young, salary cap friendly, and fit the schemes well.
In regards to the Draft, the Falcons felt that they needed to address the defensive side of the ball almost exclusively. A pass-rush needed to be found from someone other than John Abraham. The interior DL needed to be better against the run. More depth was required at OLB and in the defensive backfield. The only offensive positions that looked like they might get a pick or two were the O-line and TE.
Aaron Maybin was considered a good value at 24, with the Falcons believing he could have been off the board as much as 10 - 12 picks higher. He won't start, being listed as the #2 LDE behind Chauncey Davis, but he'll see plenty of action in nickel and dime packages and as part of the DE rotation with Abraham, Davis, and Kroy Biermann.
The Falcons were also pleasantly surprised to see Ron Brace available at 55. He will immediately compete for a starting spot at NT with Trey Lewis.
UConn's Cody Brown may have been Atlanta's best pick as far as value is concerned, with the team considering him a legitmate 2nd round talent. He was a down DE in college, but will be groomed for a couple of years behind Mike Peterson to eventually become the team's SLB. He will also be on the special teams' coverage units and will be a down DE if injuries hit hard at that position.
James Casey was a BPA type of pick. No defensive player really wowed the Falcons at 121, and Casey's versatility and intangibles were a big plus. He can be a TE, a FB, an H-back, a special teamer, even a punt returner and a QB! Atlanta would like him to get get bigger and become a better blocker, but he offers Offensive Coordinator Mike Mularkey some interesting skills to play with.
Pitt's Eric Thatcher (pick 135) may lack prototypical size, but he brings all kinds of intangibles to the table (intelligence, instincts, etc...), is fast, and tackles well. He'll be a backup at FS and will be on the ST coverage units.
Central Florida's Joe Burnett (pick 152) isn't as big or as stopwatch fast as you'd like a CB to be, but he plays fast, is physical, leaps well, makes plays on the ball, and is a weapon with the ball in his hands, whether returning INTs, kickoffs, or punts. He looks to be the fifth CB and a backup KR/PR.
Post-Draft Cuts (if I'm allowed to do this for the purpose of this IMD): Thomas Brown RB, Jason Rader TE, Simon Fraser DE, Kindal Moorehead DT, Jason Jefferson DT Robert James OLB, David Irons CB

CINCINNATI BENGALS
By only doing the draft, then no pre-draft trades was done to better this team. However, as far as the draft is concerned, the following is how the Bengals summarize their draft day.
"We, the Bengals, felt that the most important needs had to be addressed, first and for most. Unaddressed needs will absolutely continue to be addressed throughout the course of the season, as well as in next year's market of free agency."
Round 1 (#6): OT MICHAEL OHER. "We feel that once he successfully adds weight and bulk, he may very well end up being the best LT prospect in this year's draft. And with the concerns of Levi Jones' career in Cincinnati vastly coming to an end, then we felt that this was our most needed position player. We are very excited about having gotten Micheal Oher."
Round 2 (#38): SS WILLIAM MOORE. "We placed a very high value on obtaining a SS in this draft. We would love to make William Moore's transition to the next level as comfortable for him as it can be. Therefore, we don't expect him to be our starter in this upcoming season. Our plans are to see where he is come mid-season, before beginning to battle Ndukwe for the starter's role."
Round 3 (#70): C JONATHAN LUIGS. "We had hoped for Eric Wood with this pick. However, we are fully confident with Jonathan Luigs and his ability at center. One of the quickest centers off the snap, he will be a very valuable asset, especially to our dismal running game. He possesses a nice upside when it pertains to an offensive line's pass protection, as well. We hope he can prove our assessment to be correct and be our starter come opening day."
Round 4 (#102): LB ZACK FOLLETT. "We really love this guy's abilities against the rush. We believe that down the road he can and will be a very valuable asset to our linebacker corps. Though he still needs to be slightly polished in his pass coverage skills, he still brings alot of heart on every play. Zack Follett reminds us alot of a young Caleb Miller, but with more pop in every hit."
Round 5 (#134): DT MARLON FAVORITE. "We greatly needed a rotation guy in our defensive tackle corps. Plain and simple. We are set as far as whom our starters will be come opening day (Sims, Peko). And now Marlon Favorite will be joining Orien Harris and Jason Shirley in our rotation. We're definitely are more than pleased to have Favorite joining our defensive line."

Picks:
10- Matthew Stafford QB Georgia: Has everything you look for in a Franchise signal caller. All the physical tools you could ask for, experience, and top notch intangibles. Not sure why he fell into our laps but we picked up the ONLY Franchise QB in the draft.
49- Clint Sintim OLB Virginia: Makes a ton of impact plays...Most behind the line of scrimmage. Is a fantastic pass rusher and is adequate in pass coverage. Starter from day 1.
83- Cornelius Ingram TE Florida: Former Gator basketball player. A pure pass catching tight end that is a mismatch waiting to happen for any defense. Will compliment Brent Celek perfectly. Will contribute immediately.
107- Pat White WR/QB West Virginia: The most electrifying player in the entire draft. Fantastic leader, will get a shot to play QB. He will find a place on the field at the start of the season; whether it is as a WR, Punt Return, Kick Return, Wildcat QB. He is a football player.
110- Terrance Taylor NT Michigan: Short squatty NT prospect. 3 year starter for the Wolverines. Played with a lot of NFL players at Michigan. Will work in a rotation at NT and could be our steal of the draft.
117- Xavier Fulton OT Illinois: This is a prospect pick. Has a lot of physical tools but not a lot of experience. Will be a third string or second string RT player during his rookie season. The hope is that after a year or two will be able to be a starting RT. Reminds me a lot of Mario Henderson
138- Mike Goodson RB Texas A&M: Is different than the other backs on the roster. More of a scat back with tons of potential. Could possibly play some WR but we believe he is a carbon copy of darren sproles (obviously taller). Can take it the distance from any area on the field.
Players/Picks Lost:
Vernon Davis TE
Alex Smith QB
pick 43
pick 76
Parys Haralason OLB
Players Gained:
Roberto Garza OG
Max Jean Gilles OG
Brent Celek TE
Chris Clemons OLB/DE
Ryan Torain RB
Summary:
Going into the offseason we wanted to become more physical up from on offense, add playmakers on offense and add some pass rushers on our defense. We believe our secondary is in good shape so we did not address that part of our team. We believe the additions of Sintim and Clemons will take a lot of pressure off of Justin Smith. Offensively we added 2 quality starting guards that are better run blockers than pass blockers. We added 2 new running backs to help carry the load with Frank Gore. Pat White will be another Antwaan Randle El and Brent Celek and Cornelius Ingram will form a great TE tandem. Finally, Matthew Stafford.... I can not believe he fell to us at Pick 10. We believe he is the only elite QB prospect in the draft. He will be surround by a re-built offense line; which is anchored by a future pro bowler in Joe Staley. He will benefit from a great running game and an above average WR core. We are very excited about our team moving forward. There is no reason this team cant win 10 or 11 games next season.

Trades:
1. Chiefs trade Derrick Johnson, #98, Tamba Hali, Jackie Battle and DaJuan Morgan to the Eagles for Todd Herremans, Trent Cole and Omar Gaither
2. Chiefs trade pick #3 and Tyler Thigpen for Elvis Dumervil, #12 and #132
3. Chiefs trade #67, #131 and #132 to the Packers for James Jones
Summary:
I'm not going to waste your time with a long summary, the Chiefs were 2-14 last season so I just aimed to make them better, I believe I did. I got 2 great, athletic DEs who can play 3-4 OLB for them, an excellent 3-4 DE in Tyson Jackson, a very good #2 WR in James Jones and a good, steady RT in Herremans. I think the Chiefs can contend for their division next season.

Summary:
My goals this offseason were 1)Trade into first round 2)Trade DE Julius Peppers 3)Add depth to Defensive Line 4)Add depth to offensive line 5)Trade/Draft starting worthy CB. I accomplished all of these goals in my opinion. I added a solid offensive lineman, replaced Julius Peppers, added a defensive tackle and traded for CB Sheldon Brown.
Although I lost my QB, Matt Moore or Josh McCown are ready to jump in and start. I was lucky that Everette Brown slipped to me and he is a great replacement for Julius Peppers. Overall, I would say I did great with my draft picks and didn't set my team too far back by trading key players.
I would give myself an A/A- this offseason.
