Draftstock returns! No, it's not some bad movie sequel... it's the fourth annual edition of the CDS contest where you get to play GM and display your ability to recognize value picks in the draft.
Draftstock is open to any registered member of CDS (free or premium, no guests please). CDS employees may participate, but are not eligible for prizes. Only one entry per person please.
Here's how it works:
You get to play GM for a generic NFL Club. Your Club has seven (7) picks in the upcoming NFL Draft. You MUST select exactly one (1) player at each of the following positions:
1. Quarterback = QB
2. Running Back (includes halfback and fullback) = RB
3. Receiver (includes wideouts, tight ends, and H-Backs) = RC
4. Offensive Line (includes centers, guards, tackles, and long-snappers) = OL
5. Defensive Line (includes tackles and ends) = DL
6. Linebacker (includes inside, middle, and outside backers) = LB
7. Defensive Back (includes corners and safeties) = DB
*Note, all players must be drafted at the position listed in the chart below. (For example, Pat White is listed as a QB. He cannot be drafted as a WR, even if you think he projects better to that position.) Specialists (kickers, punters, returners) are not included unless they are listed under another positional designation.
The top 250 prospects are listed in the next post and each one has a numerical value assigned to him. For example, Aaron Curry has a value of 850. The lesser regarded the prospect, the lesser the value. Any player not listed in the top 250 is considered a "FIELD" entry and has a value of 250.
Each contestant (GM) is given a cap limit of 3000. The seven players you select CANNOT have a total value that exceeds 3000. Your goal is to assemble a draft class of seven players that you believe will be selected the earliest in the draft without exceeding your cap limit. (Just like in the NFL, you do not get a bonus for any unused portion of your cap.)
Between now and 11:59 PM (EDT) on Friday April 24th, you can PM me your list of seven players. That list can be updated at any time prior to the deadline.
On draft day, we'll all see where the players get selected. If you drafted Andre Smith and he went 7th overall, you would earn 7 points for that selection. If you selected Tom Brandstater as your QB and he went 207th overall, you would earn 207 points. If your player did not get selected, you would earn 252 points for that player. **THE GM WITH THE LOWEST TOTAL POINTS FOR THEIR SEVEN PLAYERS WINS THE CONTEST** (In the event of a tie, the player with the lowest point total on Day One of the NFL Draft will be declared the winner.)
FIRST PRIZE: Lifetime premium membership to Consensus Draft Services.
Second Prize: One year premium membership to Consensus Draft Services.
Third Prize: Ridicule and embarrassment.
