Overall, I give the Patriot's day one maneuvering and selections a solid B.

I was NOT pleased that they passed on he opportunity to draft Rey Maualuga--especially when he became and absolute steal at the top of the 2nd round. HOWEVER, the league must have been told things about him that the rest of us were not privy too. Perhaps it was the lewd action he did behind (and, so he thought, off camera) a female pro liaison recently.

However, I liked the Chung pick with our first actual selection, and am pleased we addressed both of our most glaring needs on day one--SS and CB.

I did not think we needed to trade up for Ron Brace, but I like having him in our D-line rotation now. I would have been happier staying put at #47 and getting him, but AGAIN, the Pats must have known some other team was going to take him before then.

I LOVED THE PICK OF Darius Butler, and was ecstatic to have been able to nab him that late.

I ALSO LOVED THE PICK OF SEBASTIAN VOLLMER, though it may have been a half round early. Best sleeper LOT candidate in the draft IMHO...

I think they took Brace this early because they likely thought Denver would draft him before they chose again at 47. Miami was another possibility, with Ferguson not having much left, as was Cleveland, but not as important to them as to Denver/Miami unless they are trading their NT. With the conversion of so many teams to the 3-4 at the same time this year, I think you'll see a run on players who fit that scheme early today, and it's likely Bill foresaw that too and got the players he wanted early himself, because they won't be there later.

I thought the Chung pick and the Brace pick were way to early of a stretch although I unddrstand the Chung pick I'm sure they targeted Delmas but he was gone, the Volmer pick I would have liked a lot better if Oher didn't land in there laps and they passed on him, they only thing I can think of was that he was sort of a celeberty already and didn't want that on their team, the names they passed up Maualuga, James L, Everette Brown, Coner Barwin, Clay Mathews, Michael Johnson and My pet peve Oher, what a story it would have been for him to go from rags to riches to a potential superbowl team in my mind the Ravens run average just went up about 3 or 4 yards a carry from last year and a possible first round playoffs if not more already depending on what they do with the draft. If he starts and he should. I give dayone a c+ I didn' t like the cb pic at first but thought about and realized that even though they drafted two corners last year and brought in two former first rounders this year, Only one of those corners will prob make the roster this year from last years draft and that would have made 4 you need at least five corners on your roster especially the pats, they have 3 3rd rounders today hopefully they'll rebound they did last year.

Ravens:

I am not going to question Ozzie Newsome because there is always a method to his madness, but I was a little disappointed in the Michael Oher pick. Would have much rather had Rey Mau.

Also not crazy about Kruger.

I like the Ladrius Webbs pick, then that TE and Cedric Peerman made no sense to me.

I hope we go after some UDFAs there are a ton of good ones available!!!!

REIG...wrong thread buddy. Can you repost in the appropriate team thread?

On the Pats Day two moves, I LOVED the trade of two of these thirds for second rounders next year. That was THE BEST thing that happened for New England outside of getting Butler at #41 when I would have been happy with him at #23.

The selection of WR Brandon Tate shows me they have done their homework, and think he is not going to be a haibitual drug user and that he has recovered his speed. Not crazy about the WR chosen, but glad they chose one.

Tyrone McKenzie as the comp pick is excellent! About 10 slots higher than I had him graded but a very good sleeper at the LB position whose best football is definitely ahead.

Ohrenberger is SOLID and I really like the selection of an OG.

Same with Jake Ingram, the consensus best LS in the draft.

I was really pleased with the Julian Edelman choice too. A sleeper few were talking about, but our writeup at CDS alludes to his ability. The Pats now have a legit "Wildcat" option too, that will cost them FAR LESS than Pat White.

Darryl Richard is a smart hard-working character guy.

I give both days a solid B, and the fact we once again stockpiled for the future gives it a B+ in my book.

It also relieved any concerns I might have had that Pioli was the real brains behind Belichick and not v.v.

Oh...and Myron Pryor at 207 was an absolute steal.

OG George Bussey does nothing for me, especially when you trade up for him...

I absolutely love the Butler, Edelman, and Pryor picks a TON.
