Just saw the preseason AA list - very impressive group - as someone who follows the GLIAC, most of the choices are right on target. Ashland QB Billy Cundiff is expected to have another phenomenal season (AU also returns 2 of their 3 starting WRs so his targets should be consistent). Grand Valley RB Jimmy Berezik is lightning fast and runs well between the tackles (he's only 5'11, though). Justin Magruder is an outstanding O-lineman at Ashland. GVSU QB Iciek is also very talented. DE Danny Richard of Grand Valley is the 'book-end' of Cincinnati Bengal signee Dan Skuta - Richard also pitched a no-hitter for GVSU this spring.

Perhaps the best possibility of a pro career is running back Joique Bell of Wayne State (MI) - the biggest 'knock' on him is that his team has a little passing attack, allowing defenses to key on him - he produces pretty well even so - he has the size and ability to play on Sundays.

Some additions I'd suggest - Jared Veldheer - 6'9, 321 offensive tackle from Hillsdale- he is a flat-out awesome athlete - solid student too - he is BIG and mobile. (edit 5 minutes later - I SEE VELDHEER IS ON THE LIST - GREAT CALL!)

I'd also add junior Joe Horn, 5'11, 185 WR at Ashland - caught 69 passes for 1,069 and 9 TDs (2nd team All-GLIAC)- also set single-game return record on the first game of the season in '08 (record broken by Carlin Isles later in season). Horn is a 5-time All-American sprinter currently qualified to the NCAA championships in the 200, 400, 4x100 and 4x400. He is flat-out fast (also an All-GLIAC Academic performer, too).

You guys might want to check on Tiffin QB Matt Root - he was listed as a senior last year and he did not play in the 2009 Tiffin Spring Game.

Thanks for the awesome feedback, EE! I really appreciate it. Glad we are pretty on target. I absolutely love GLIAC kids. They are always tough-nosed and among the best DII prospects in the country, year in and year out.

I'll add Joe Horn. Watch for an upcoming announcement on Bell. He has a very good shot at being named our preseason DII Offensive POTY. (We gear that award more towards future predicted performance and pro potential, rather than past performance, and Bell played through an injury much of last season.)

On Root...Strange. He's listed as a junior here: http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.jsp?=200...erpassyard.html.

Horn will be a junior this year at Ashland.

Hillsdale's LB Tom Korte who signed a 2-year deal with the Steelers has had a couple great work-outs at mini-camp - he picked-off a Charlie Batch pass on his first day out ... I'm hoping he can make the Pittsburgh roster.

I love Tom Korte! Great to hear he is doing well with the Steelers!

Saginaw Valley State University has a couple of studs on their side of the state also. John Jacobs is a reincarnation of John Digiorgio. Always around the ball, makes every play. Galen Stone is a talented TE who has yet to realize his true potential. Catches everything, deceptive speed, and strong, needs to develop desire to block, could be his ticket.

Ah...A blast from the past. Ask John D. about CDS. He'll tell you we helped get him on the NFL scouting map.

Hopefully we can do the same for JJ.

Thought Clay Beeler West Liberty State would have been listed higher than HM , after being named as a 1st team All American and Div II Line backer of the year in Don Hansen Football gazette last season! This young man is a stud, look for great things from him this season!
