I sat down yesterday and put on the tape of the Miss St v Ole Miss game at the end of last year to watch some of the juniors and sophs and I have to say I was seriously impressed by a lot of the Ole Miss players. Here are a few notes I made on the game:

QB Jevan Snead - very accurate, great vision, good arm. knows when to check down. great feel of when the pocket is collapsing and when to let the ball go. showed amazing touch on one TD pass into the back corner of the end zone.

WR Shay Hodge - appears to have become Snead's favorite target and could well benefit from that. reminds me a lot of Mohamed Massaquoi in terms of his skill set. has good hands and runs nice routes.

WR Dexter McCluster - may be small but boy is he quick. has amazing burst and incredible toughness for such a small guy. home run threat every time he touches the ball.

OG/T John Jerry - brother of Falcons DT Peria Jerry. started at RT but moved inside on occasional running downs. showed good leverage and ability to protect his QB. pushed his defender past his QB on several occasions. watch for him rising up draft boards this year.

DE Greg Hardy - did not start but came in on passing downs to rush the QB and caused havoc. almost unblockable and certainly needs to be double-teamed. runs the arc beautifully. relies on his rushing ability only and struggles to gain leverage when he gets caught up with an OT.

DE Kentrell Lockett - showed great ability to get pressure on the QB. didn't give Patrick Lee any time whatsoever. showed good hustle.

Snead just adds to one of the best QB classes in a while,if they all declare ofcourse

I remember McCluster. Quick as all get out. His problem will be his size. The NFL doesn't look too kindly on the small WRs. Mike Thomas got drafted because he's short. He's stocky and has a chance to withstand the pounding. Small skinny guys like McCluster will have to fight against a bias.

Hardy was hurt most of the year.

Be careful about ranking him too high. The last two years, the Spring/Summer draft rankings each had a pass rusher in the top 5 who were incomplete players and were consequently vastly overrated right up through the draft.
