Austen Lane is a fine athlete and solid citizen with great size (6'5", 265) and very solid production for a solid FCS program. He was second nationally in '08 behind only Greg Peach of Eastern Washington (22.5) with 22 TFLs last year, and tacked on 12 sacks to go with it.
Austen is also a genuinely good guy and really works at his craft. He has all the "stuff" scouts are looking for in a DE prospect and with a repeat performance this fall stands a solid chance of being drafted. Like Louisville's DE from the '09 draft, Connor Barwin, he can also catch pretty well and could fill in as a third TE. For more information on Austen, visit this link:

Let me be the first to congratulate Austen on being selected the CDS 2009 FCS Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Welcome to CDS, Mr. Lane!
Let me get the ball rolling here in your own forum with a question...Could you tell us about the prospects for the Racers this fall? Have you seen any of the incoming players? How many starters are returning..that kind of thing...Thanks in advance!
