Dan LeFevour was doing all the offensive work with 2 starting RBs sidelined with injuries - he combined 197 yards passing and 140 yards rushing to lead the Chips to a 48-21 white-washing of the Akron Zips. After a brilliant 66 yard kick-off return by Akron's Dashan Miller, the Zips afternoon went straight downhill - 3 plays only gained 4 yards and the Igor Iveljik 46-yard field goal attempt was blocked.
Carrying a 34-7 lead at half-time, the Chippewas cruised the remainder of the game and Akron never found its rhythmn - the Zips could only muster 69 yards rushing and were outgained 523 yards to 196 in total offense.

Dan LeFevour 13 6' 3.0" 229 4.70 QB 2010 - LeFevour was the player of the game using his feet and arm to lead the Chips. He is the all time MAC leader in yards gained from scrimmage and his poise, running ability and excellent throwing showed why today. 19 carries for 140 yards and 2 TDs and 23-31 with 1 INT and 197 yards and 4 TDs are a good day's work. He has good poise in the pocket and can make tough throws. He is tough and able to take a hit, as his running game demonstrated. This is the first game I have seen him play and I was impressed. Definitely among my top 5 QBs in the 2010 draft.
GRADE: VERY POSITIVE
Antonio Brown 27 5' 10.0" 179 4.40 WR 2011 - Brown was all over the field today! He is lightning quick and CMU finds ways to get him the ball. Listed as a WR, he also runs out of the slot (5 carries for 65), and is a punt (3-31) and kick-off (1-14) returner. His speed and acceleration are excellent - he is able to see the running lanes and get into them before they close. He has excellent hands - several of his 9 catches for 89 yards and 2 TDs were very tough to make - good concentration on making the catch first. Reminded me of Percy Harvin with his athleticism and versatility - will be interesting to see if he enters the draft this year.
GRADE: VERY POSITIVE
Bryan Anderson 7 6' 5.0" 213 4.55 WR 2010 - Anderson had a quiet day - just 3 catches for 22 yards, but he had a nice 12 yard catch in traffic late in the game that showed he is a big, strong target that can make plays. CMU Head coach Butch Jones said "CMU has 3 future NFL players in Anderson, Brown and LeFevour." While Anderson has had a great career, he didn't have an "NFL day" against the Zips. He did his job, made most of his blocks (he was flagged for holding) and ran pretty good routes, but I'll have take Coach Jones' word for it on his NFL ability based on today's game.
GRADE: NEUTRAL
Frank Zombo 98 6' 4.0" 260 4.80 DE 2010 - Zombo set the tone of the game with a great tackle on Devoe Torrence for just a 2-yard game on the first play of the game. He finished with 3 tackles (2 solo) a sack, a QB hurry and a forced fumble. He showed decent speed on the outside and made life hectic for the young Matt Rodgers, the young Akron QB starting in place of suspended Akron QB Chris Jaquermain. I'd like to see him with more mass (260 is light for NFL play) - a PFA/7th round possibility.
GRADE: SLIGHTLY POSITIVE
Collin Miller 63 6' 3.0" 291 5.00 C 2011 - Miller played a very capable game. Dominated the Akron NG and was able to take him wherever he wanted. Nice snaps and good pass protection - will be interested to see his height and weight next year.

Deryn Bowser 1 6' 1.0" 215 4.50 WR 2010 - The CMU defense limited the MACs 2nd leading scored (coming in with 5 TDs) to just one catch for 6 yards. Bowser (like the entire Akron O) just never found a groove. Decent routes and solid blocking - I don't think he was thrown to more than twice.
GRADE: INCOMPLETE
Dashan Miller 7 6' 1.0" 200 4.50 WR 2010 - An exciting 66-yard kick-off return to start the game was the highlight of the day for the Zips and Miller. He had 7 returns for 189 yards (27 ypr) and average 24.3 per return in '08. Great speed and vision - but probably not that great to use a pick just as a returner - Akron should find out how to get him more involved in the offense.
GRADE: POSITIVE
Alex Allen 10 6' 0.0" 205 4.50 HB 2010 - Only 3 carries for 3 yards and was stopped on a fourth and short. Decent size (a little light, though) and some positive blocking. Nominated for the 'Good Works Award' obviously a class act who has overcome a broken hip last year to rejoin the team. Today's performance was not inspiring.
GRADE: NEUTRAL
Jeremy Bruce 12 5' 8.5" 195 4.50 WR 2010 - Another Akron WR with a poor day at the office - 1 catch for 5 yards and missed a catch in the first series that could have got them off to a great start - not very tall and was 'out-physicalled' by defenders.
GRADE: SLIGHTLY NEGATIVE
Andre Jones 21 5' 11.0" 180 4.55 DB 2010 - Came to Akron as DB, then was a WR last year, and is now back at starting weak CB. Had 4 tackles in the game (1 solo). Good coverage, but not as physical as he could be; would like to see him with some more 'bulk.'
GRADE: NEUTRAL
Igor Iveljik 45 6' 0.0" 190 0.00 PL 2011 3 for 3 on PATs but had 46-yard attempt blocked - his approach was quick - great play by the defender.
GRADE: SLIGHTLY POSITIVE
Wayne Cobham 27 6' 2.0" 200 4.5 FS 2010 - Finished game with 6 tackles (2 solo) and was excellent in run support. Very active and always around the ball. Height is good, would like to see him stronger with more upper-body mass. Footwork and positioning good in coverage.
GRADE: POSITIVE
Amin Kabir 28 6' 1.0" 205 4.60 LB 2010 - Did not play
GRADE: INCOMPLETE
Joe Tuzze 32 5' 11.0" 220 4.70 FB 2010 - 12 carries for 62 yards and 2 catches for 14 made Tuzze the most active offensive player aside from Rodgers for the Zips today. Performance was acceptable but not inspiring. As the team leading rusher, I would expect more from him to get the offense going. Practice squad player at best at the next level.

Zach Anderson 78 6' 4.0" 310 4.90 RG 2010 - decent outing at in his 27th start at RG - got to his assignment and engaged well; could have hinged and helped better when uncovered in pass protection. Good size; improved speed and footwork would improve his prospects. Brother Bryan was guard with the Bears for 3 seasons and was a 7th round pick out of Pitt in 2003.

Ryan Bain 92 6' 2.0" 290 4.80 DE 2010 - Did not play

GAME NOTES - Akron loss overshadowed great performace by redshirt freshman Brian Wagner at LB - the Ohio D-VI POY is leading the MAC in tackles and tallied 16 (10 solo) with an INT and a TFL - I coached against him twice in HS and he is one to watch (he also had over 6,000 yards rushing at Springfield Catholic Central HS) ... Akron QB Chris Jacquermain has been suspended for the season - sophomore QB Matt Rodgers' second start was a little less rocky at 12-19 for 127 yards with 5 sacks (he opened with Indiana last week in Akron's 38-21 loss and threw 4 INTS with 3 sacks) ... CMU starts at 3-1 for the first time in 7 years.
