Ashland's (4-3, 4-2) homecoming crowd was treated to a win over visiting Northwood (3-3, 3-3) and a record-setting play as QB Billy Cundiff found WR Joe Horn for a 96-yard TD early in the 4th quarter (the play was the longest TD pass from scrimmage in school history). The TD put the Eagles up 33-13 and all but sealed the much needed win over the Timberwolves and put the Eagles in a 4-way tie for second in the GLIAC and keeping their post-season playoff homes alive. Cundiff finished the game 19-28 for 366 yards and 4 TDs. The Ashland defense surrendered over 200 yards to the NU 'Woodbone' ground attack, but was able to generate 4 turnovers (3 INTs and a fumble recovery to get the win.

Billy Cundiff 17 6' 1.6" 219 4.58 QB 2010

Cundiff was very versatile today, passing for 366 yards and rushing 6 times for 63 yards (429 yards total offense). The Eagles used many more play action passes, allowing Cundiff better time to see his options; the AU-line protected Cundiff well, giving up no sacks. Cundiff completed TD passes of 11, 36, 69, and 96 yards. He made many good decisions today - he audibled to a slant on the 69 yarder to Bellanco after Horn went in motion, leaving Bellanco with one-on-one from the CB. Another solid performance.

GRADE: POSITIVE

Joe Horn 7 5' 11.9" 186 4.40 WR 2011

Horn had his second consecutive 2-TD outing of the season and 7th career 100-yard game, catching 8 for 184 yards including TDs of 11 and 96 yards. Perhaps his best catch of the day was in the second quarter with the Eagles driving for their second score; on a 3rd and 2, he got open, but had to reach above his head to bring in the pass - he secured the ball for the first down. On the 96-yard bomb with second and 9 from the 4, the NU defense had 10 in the box, leaving single coverage on Horn - Horn streaked past the CB who had no help from the safety and Cundiff delivered the ball in stride to Horn who easily outdistanced the Timberwolf secondary to the endzone. Horn continues to contribute on several special teams. He once again had several good downfield blocks for Cundiff and RB McCoy.

GRADE: VERY POSITIVE
