LA Tech has all the parts...a game-managing QB who is careful with the ball, a solid tailback, an explosive KR/WR, a dominant DT, and a solid secondary. Although the WAC's 2nd best tailback prospect, Daniel Porter, had not been statistically impressive prior to this game, backs always suddenly seem to get healthy when playing the "Rainbow Boys" defense. Hawaii still throws the ball all over the place and they have a big tough QB out of JUCO named Greg Alexander (6'3", 240) but when he was knocked out with a knee sprain in the 3rd quarter, this one went quickly into the Bulldogs' bag. LA Tech could make things interesting if they can play this way from now on out...

Game Notes
RJ Kiesel-Kauhone 59 5' 11.0" 225 4.80 LB 2010: Active little LB who will not play in the NFL , but could make a developmental league roster. Does everything pretty well--wraps & diagnoses, gets to the spot and covers OK. Just doesn't have the measurables. GRADE: Neutral
Brashton Satelle 13 6' 1.0" 255 4.90 LB 2010: DNP...Not sure if he got in, but if he did, he certainly didn't do much. GRADE: INC
Greg Alexander 12 6' 3.0" 230 4.80 QB 2010: Has some raw talent, with the emphasis definitely on the word "raw." Big, raw-boned athlete who can move around pretty well, and can escape and makle some throws on the run. Lacks accuracy, touch, game /clock/situational awareness. Holds the ball too long. Needs a clock. Big arm, and can break tackles. Footwork is pretty good. Needs a couple years in a developmental league, but has some "WOW" factor. Knocked out in the 3rd quarter with a knee sprain. Doesn't seem to have it from the neck up....yet....GRADE: Neutral
Malcolm Lane 89 6' 1.0" 180 4.50 WR 2010: HO hum...Dime a dozen guy. Nothing to make you think he has enough of anything to be more than a possible last-minute camp addition. GRADE: Negative
John Fonoti 58 6' 2.0" 255 4.80 DE 2010: Needs to play OLB, and looks OK there. Gets some pressure. Lacks flexbility to play 3-4 OLB. Is not an elite rusher. Lacks speed, tech and awareness to even be considered a 4-3 OLB. What do you do with him? Can he long snap maybe? GRADE: Neutral

Game Notes
Antonio Baker 34 5' 10.5" 200 0.00 S 2010: Has some dynamic abilities, but seems to lose concentration at times and disappears for stretches. Very active and shows some leadership ability at this level. Not a big enough hitter to be an NFL safety and way to tight in the hips for anything else. Poor man's Darcel McBath. GRADE: Slightly positive
DAnthony Smith 5 6' 1.0" 300 0.00 DT 2010: Might have found a player here, boys. Too bad he's in such a deep DT class. Could have been a 4th rounder in an average class, but probably a priority UDFA in this one. Gets wired to blockers sometimes, and gets tired, but when fresh has a nice spin move, can occasionally beat the double, and can blow over and through the single block. Seems to play pretty hard and can get penetration. Nice hand usage. Seems to understand and use leverage well. Looks like a UT who could surprise in camp. GRADE: Positive
Daniel Porter 20 5' 8.8" 190 4.52 HB 2010: Above average natural tailback moves. Can pound it up the middle well for a 190-pounder. Can catch a little. Looks like Kevin Faulk but must improve hands and blocking if he wants to be considered a 3rd-down, change-of-pace candidate. Has more moves than Ryan Moats and runs with a tad more authority. Not as strong as the former Bulldog star though, and can't hit the edges quite the same way. Looks like a 7th rounder....GRADE: Positive
Philip Livas 6 5' 8.0" 175 4.40 WR 2011: An explosive kickoff returner who is deadly on reverses, and screens. Better not come out because he needs to really work on his overall game as a WR. Tiny, and may not take the pounding. Would have to be used very creatively. Speed. Will block, though it probably doesn't matter that he tries....GRADE: Positive
Brian White 36 6' 1.0" 230 4.60 LB 2010: Showed up a couple of times, but did nothing to really impress. Got a sack in the second half, but it was a coverage deal. Didn't show me enough to think he's much of a prospect in this one. GRADE: Slightly negative
Dean Young 25 5' 11.0" 200 4.50 S 2010: Dime-a-dozen collegiate safety, who is solid at this level in both phases, but no threat to make an NFL roster. Did have a nice pick and a couple of tackles. GRADE: NEutral
Thomas Graham 52 5' 10.0" 235 4.90 C 2010: I don't think he played....
Ben Harris 62 6' 4.0" 295 5.00 OG 2010: A bit of a revelation here. Nice wide base. Stays locked on when he gets a hold of you in the run game. OK pass pro drop and technique. Enough size and growth potential. Not fast. Not a destroyer when pulling. Holds nicely, and gets away with it. Who could be a developmental guy who might stick on your practice squad. Gives consistent effort. GRADE: Positive
OTHER NOTES:
LA Tech: Ross Jenkins, there starting QB is a junior with what would appear to be little upside, but he manages a game OK. Trey Carter (#28) is a corner who may be the fastest man in the WAC.
Hawaii: WR Greg Salas is a junior who has been very productive this year, and was consistent and solid in this one too. Not as good as some of the WRs of the Timmy Chang era, but could surprise if he continues to develop. Has good hands. WR Rodney Bradley is another junior who could surprise eventually. Lacks the hands right now, and appears to have only average ups, but gets open and makes some plays. Tank Hopkins, #4, is a corner (what year is he though, Jay?) who was all over the place making plays in both the passing game (2 PDs) and the run game (I had him for 6 tackles). #53, LB Blaise Soares is probably the 'Bows best defender.
