CSU looked like they would pull an upset until Utah got big plays on both sides of the ball. FS Robert Johnson and WR David Reed stepped up and made play after play to put away the win for Utah.

College: Utah Conference: Mountain West Columnist: Brett Walker
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class Game Notes
Robert Johnson 17 6' 1.5" 200 4.50 S 2010
2 solos 3 assists, 1 PBU and 3 interceptions for 44 return yards. Free safety who does a good job of closing distance and making the interception. Big play machine and the star on defense for Utah. Plays center field and makes the most of his opportunity. Long, lean frame and looks like a draftable player. JC transfer who is just now really making his mark. Grade: Very Positive

Zane Beadles 68 6' 3.0" 305 5.10 OT 2010
Excellent at hitting moving targets in space. When he cut blocks it's often ineffective. At times lunges. Nice job of handling his man and setting the edge in run blocks. Grade: Positive

Koa Misi 41 6' 2.0" 263 4.75 DE 2010
3 solos, 1 sack and 1 FF. Decent day by Misi, but other than the sack and FF did very little. Grade: Neutral

Zane Taylor 77 6' 1.0" 300 5.10 C 2011
Center who pulls and gets out front and makes a block. Sticks to blocks gets a good seal in the center. Fireplug type guy who shows good quickness. Should end up in a camp but will find he'll have a tough go getting drafted with his height. Grade: Positive

David Reed 16 5' 11.0" 190 4.50 WR 2010
1/10 rushing, 9/140 1 TD The star of the show on the offense. Single handedly brought Utah back in this game. Runs all the routes. Good hands and quickness. Knows how to deliver the big play and spark his team. Makes the dull mundane plays as well. Runs reverses. Slips tackles. Probably the top WR in the MWC. Grade: Very Positive.

Mike Wright 20 6' 1.0" 235 4.70 LB 2010
5 solos, 1 assist Made a few tackles, but didn't really stand out or do anything to really take notice. Grade: Neutral

Matt Asiata 4 5' 10.0" 230 4.60 HB 2010
DNP

Stevenson Sylvester 10 6' 1.0" 230 4.70 LB 2010
4 solos, 3 assists See Wright. Definetly wasn't a game like the Sugar Bowl. Grade: Neutral

College: Colorado State Conference: Mountain West Columnist: Brett Walker
Name # Ht Wt Speed Pos Class Game Notes

Adrian Martinez 60 6' 3.5" 299 5.20 OG 2010
Road grader mauler style OG. Good effort. Stiff in his dropback and not fluid in space. Gets into a camp without a doubt. Grade: Slightly Positive

Dion Morton 31 5' 9.5" 172 4.40 WR 2010
1/-7 rushing, 5/106 receiving 1 TD, 1/43 KR Similiar style player as Reed of Utah. Same ability. Has stood out every time I have seen this kid. Fights for the ball and knows how to make the big play. Grade: Very Positive

Shelley Smith 74 6' 3.0" 295 5.20 OG 2010
Another guard from CSU who is getting some buzz. Not quite the Mauler of Martinez but is more fluid and a better athlete. Locks out on his blocks. Gets push and moves his man. Grade: Positive

Tim Walter 57 6' 5.0" 289 5.20 C 2010
Interior of CSU line is loaded with prospects. Walter has great size and gets his push and turn on the DT. Has ability to pivot and move in the center. Locks out. Decent quickness. Grade: Positive.

Rashaun Greer 84 6' 0.0" 202 4.55 WR 2010
1/45 rushing, 3/33 receiving. The big target for CSU. Had a huge play on a reverse. Didn't do much else the entire game after that. Grade: Slightly Positive

Ricky Brewer 56 6' 1.0" 211 4.70 LB 2011
DNP.

Game Notes: RBs Eddie House Utah 17/15 1 TD and Leonard Mason CSU 24/131 1 TD both had good games and kinda cancelled each others effort out on the ground.... Mason is a JR and a JC transfer who is just getting on board.....FR QB Terrance Cain had a good day and Utah is set for a good bit at QB. 24/32 for 248 1 INT 2 TDs.

Are we under-rating Robert Johnson in our rankings? Is he perhaps even a Top 100 verge guy?

If you had to choose between David Reed and Dion Morton, who would you take, Brett?

Also, what happened to CSU QB Bryan Waggener? Wasn't he in the database?

FWIW, I love this Reed kid. I heard some nice buzz about him coming out of JuCo and saw some flashes last season that made me think he could break out this season.

I'll get Johnson in the FS ratings. I feel more comfortable with Morton to answer your question but Reed may be better. I've seen more of Morton dating back to last year. It's close though and Reed was very electric in this game.

I have no idea who you are talking about. The last 3 QBs were Caleb Hanie, Billy Farris and now some guy named Grant Strecker. After Hanie the other 2 are JAGs.

My bad, Brett. Waggener is Northern Colorado....
