This was a tough, tough, ball game for the resurgent Lions of Columbia University to have to lose. They had control the whole way, and Lafayette scored a TD on a 2-yard run by tailback Maurice White with 3 ticks left for their first lead of the game to pull out the win. There are some marginal prospects in this game.

SCOUTING SUMMARY:

College: Columbia Conference: Ivy League Columnist: Jeff West

Game Notes
Lou Miller 59 6' 0.0" 220 4.65 DE 2010: Tiny little DE with a great motor, and a mean disposition. Keeps coming hard all game. Doesn't get anywhere early, but wears down the OT opposite him and gets a lot done after the opponent gets tired. One-trick pony without a pro position, but he is electric at this level. Had a huge sack in the late 3rd Q that almost preserved the win. Got a ton of QBHs. Does let the OT get his hands on him on occasion, and he obviously can't afford to do that. GRADE: Neutral

Austin Knowlin 83 5' 10.0" 190 4.45 WR 2010: Could be Columbia's only leigt PP. Good kick/punt returner, but the 4.45 may be generous. Runs decent routes and has fairly sharp cuts. Average hands. Drops balls when hit. Can throw. Versatility and record-setting career (became Columbia's all-time leading pass catcher in this one) give him a shot at a pro camp. GRADE: Positive

Andy Shalbrack 6 6' 1.0" 210 4.65 S 2010: Heady, steady and smart football player with some size. Can blitz. Makes plays in coverage. If he has some weight room and speed numbers, may get into a camp because he is a general back there. GRADE: Positive

College: Lafayette Conference: Patriot League Columnist: Steve Martin

Game Notes
Mark Leggiero 49 5' 11.0" 220 4.90 LB 2010: Not Mark's showcase game. Didn't get much done in the first half, and played better in the second. To be fair, Columbia was getting an OG onto him constantly, but the great ones find a way around that, and Leggiero didn't until the second half. Sheds pretty well at this level. Above average instincts. Decent tackler. Small. May be a step quicker than we list him. GRADE: Neutral

Tyrell Coon 21 5' 10.6" 191 4.60 HB 2010: LC's #2 back. Has some versatility. Can catch a little. 4.60 appears generous. Works hard but lacks talent. No shot. GRADE: Neutral

Maurice White 22 5' 7.8" 205 4.55 HB 2010: The bell cow of the offense who carries the load. Low COG, and runs with pretty deent authority up the middle. 4.55 may be generous. Jump cuts, and hits the whole with some power. Average tailback moves, below average size and speed. May get an offer from another league. GRADE: Slightly positive

Rob Curley 5 5' 11.8" 201 4.85 QB 2010: Tough competitor who usually makes pretty good decisions but was picked off three times in this one. Short, and is not accurate beyond the dink & dunk range. Tries to do to much at times. Winner with some intangible stuff there. Way too limited for the NFL, but could catch on with another league. Winner. Nice touch in the short game. Feathers it. Decent delivery. Can run. GRADE: Neutral

Ryan Hart-Predmore 68 6' 2.5" 297 5.45 OG 2010: Natural OG playing LOT at this level. Was impressive today. Can really drive block. Uses hands to lock on, and keeps them inside the shoulders. Did a nice job with #59 early on. Sometimes whiffs while pass protecting against speed. May get a look, but he definitely does not have the length or feet to stay at tackle. GRADE: Positive

Michael Wojcik 78 6' 4.3" 303 5.40 C 2010: Pro size, but needs more time in the weight room. Seasoned. Does a fine job of both sealing and drive blocking. A bit heavy legged, and a rather slow delivery. Has some skills. Deserves a peak. GRADE: Slightly positive

Michael Bolton 81 6' 3.5" 244 4.95 TE 2010: Rotating at this level, and does a nice job of inline blocking. Needs to disguise his release. Average hands. 4.95 seems about right. Low level UDFA type, if at all. But he has the size and does a pretty nice job in all facets of TE play. GRADE: Neutral

OTHER NOTES:

Lafayette: WR Mark Layton (#8) is the big play threat, and had the game-winning TD setup catch. Big 6'4" Mitchell Bennett has far more upside though, and caught his first TD of the season. Jump ball threat. Defensive tackle Ian Dell (#55) flashes some ability.

Columbia: RB Ray Rangel (#4) is a nice Ivy back. QB M.A. Olawale is a smart football player who is thick, has thick legs, and runs like a running back. Judicious with his passing and not mistake prone. Only about 6'0" tall but he's a player at this level. LB Corey Cameron played well, as did the left tackle.
