Chris Turner - 10 - 6' 4.0" - 220 - 4.85 - QB - 2010
Honestly, despite some fairly decent numbers in this game (307 pass yards, 3/1 TD/INT, 24-44 att), Turner did not show me much. He appears to be smaller than listed and isn't much of an athlete. Turner seems to birddog his receivers too often, which allows the better corners (see Ghee, below) to make plays. Didn't see a whole lot that I really liked about him. (Grade: Slightly negative)
DaRel Scott - 23 - 5' 11.0" - 200 - 4.45 - HB - 2011
DNP - Davin Meggett started in his place
Cory Jackson - 38 - 6' 1.0" - 245 - 4.65 - FB - 2010
Jackson is a mauler, and nothing else. He had a single carry for 2 yards and didn't factor in the passing game at all. Jackson is an aggressive blocker who is able to take on lineman and backers. He's not the most technically adept blocker as he tends to just launch himself at the defender and render him unable to get involved in the play. He's definitely not a finesse player. Shows good strength, but I'd like to see him use leverage better to make his job a little easier. The running game struggled to really get going today, so Jackson has to take a share of that blame. (Grade: Slightly positive)
Phil Costa - 72 - 6' 3.0" - 300 - 5.10 - C - 2010
Costa showed some very nice strength inside. He doesn't stand out much, but he did neutralize Boo Robinson (with some help from the OGs at times) very well in the game. He's a very solid college player, but he doesn't do enough to make me feel he can step his game up for the next level. (Grade: Neutral)
Bruce Campbell - 74 - 6' 7.0" - 310 - 5.05 - OT - 2011
DNP
Travis Ivey - 90 - 6' 4.0" - 325 - 5.25 - DT - 2010
Ivey was very active in this game, always causing some disruption and demanding a fair number of double teams, but didn't have any real impact plays. I don't remember marking him down for any tackles in this one. He looks to be a very good athlete and doesn't look nearly as big as he really is. His stamina is in question as he was throwing guys around early in the game and really disappeared as the game wore on. He started as the UT in a 4-3 alignment, but moved to NG in the 3-4 fronts. I think he's got the chops to be an NFL contributor, but he needs to show more. (Grade: Slightly negative)
Alex Wujciak - 33 - 6' 3.0" - 255 - 4.70 - MLB - 2011
Athletic player who is very active and is the clear leader on this defense as a junior. Has nice size, but he doesn't look anything near his listed height/weight. I'd guess he's somewhere between 6'1" and 6'2" and is just north of 230. He's a very sure tackler who keeps his legs clean and gets to the ball. He looked comfortable dropping into coverage as well. Very good read and reaction, but sometimes tips himself off pre-snap. Experience should help that. He needs to get stronger in the upper body and use his hands better as he really struggled to shed blocks once the blocker got into him. Overall, very solid prospect. (Grade: Positive)
Anthony Wiseman - 6 - 5' 10.0" - 185 - 4.40 - CB - 2010
Wiseman's stats are a bit deceiving. He tallied seven tackles in this one, but half of those were on the receiver who he allowed to make the catch. He fell victim to a nice pump fake in Q2. Skinner faked to the under receiver and Wiseman allowed his guy to run deep and complete a 51-yard play. It looked like man coverage, but it's possible that he had help over the top that didn't get there. Either way, his coverage was suspect all game. Wiseman was willing to support the run and might be better off playing in the box as a strong safety. (Grade: Negative)
Nolan Carroll - 14 - 6' 1.0" - 202 - 4.48 - CB - 2010
DNP - Out for season with a broken leg.
Antwine Perez - 2 - 6' 1.0" - 210 - 4.50 - S - 2011
Highly touted player with a nice pedigree, but certainly not living up to expectations. Perez isn't even starting, and that's with Carroll out for the year. He made a few tackles here and there, but didn't flash at any point. Something needs to click for him, and it hasn't yet. (Grade: Slightly negative)
Others to watch: Clearly the best player on the Terrapin offense was sophomore WR Torrey Smith (6010, 200). He has nice speed and is able to get open as a receiver, and he's an outstanding returner as well. He was a shoelace away from returning his first return for a TD and had to settle for an 85-yard return instead. Senior FS Terrell Skinner (6030, 214) was impressive, even if his numbers didn't bear it out. He has excellent size and athleticism. He's a bit rangy, but he'll attack the run and lay the lumber. Shows nice change of direction and closes well too. Freshman LB Demetrius Hartsfield (6020, 230) had an outstanding game. Flashed a lot of potential. He has very good quickness and speed and is effective coming off the edge as a pass-rusher too.

Riley Skinner - 11 - 6' 1.0" - 210 - 4.80 - QB - 2010
Riley Skinner really surprised me in this one. I always wrote him off as a marginal NFL prospect, but he played much better than I expected. Skinner shows a veteran awareness, as should be expected from a senior. He had very good pocket presence, feeling the pressure from behind, and then showed good mobility to escape the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield. He kept plays alive and was able to find receivers and make good decisions. His arm was certainly strong enough in the short-to-intermediate game, but his long strength is in question. He looked good mechanically, with a quick, compact release, and accurate placement. My biggest complaint with him is that his footwork is erratic. His feet are always bouncing and he rarely sets himself to throw the ball, often throwing off one foot or in the air. (Grade: Slightly Positive)
Ben Wooster - 85 - 6' 5.0" - 235 - 4.75 - TE - 2010
DNP
Boo Robinson - 96 - 6' 2.0" - 300 - 5.20 - DT - 2010
Once again, the missing man on the D line. Granted, stats rarely tell the story for an interior defensive lineman (unless you're a boy named Suh), but I can't say that Robinson is taking up blockers and creating opportunities for others. He has some nice burst for a guy his size, and looks pretty athletic, but he's far too often handled by one blocker and often ends up on the ground. He only had a couple of assisted tackles in this one... one was where the push was on the other side of the line and forced the ball carrier back to his side. The second was a me-too where he fell on top of the pile from behind. (Grade: Negative)
John Russell - 51 - 6' 4.0" - 285 - 4.95 - DT - 2010
Russell was active and productive in this game. He moved around a lot on the line, but really looks like a nice 5-tech prospect at the next level. Hard-worker that doesn't quit on a play. Runs well and can make plays downfield and behind the line of scrimmage. He's not an elite player, but he'll make and NFL squad and work his way onto the field through hustle and effort. (Grade: Positive)
Brandon Ghee - 17 - 6' 0.0" - 190 - 4.40 - CB - 2010
Ghee was credited with 4 passes defended in this game. He wasn't challenged often, but when he was, he was up to the task. Shows excellent anticipation, although some of that is helped by him peeking into the backfield so much. I think a better QB could have played him a few times with pump fakes. On one play in Q3, he had man coverage on trips to the right side of the offense. His receiver ran a quick out, which Ghee had inside-out coverage on. Ghee read the play as a quick out to the inside receiver and jumped it and nearly made the pick. To Maryland's credit, they ran a similar play later in the game and hit Ghee's receiver on the quick out when he provided far too much cushion. On the very next play, they attacked him again with a quick slant, but he got the jump and broke it up. (Grade: Positive)
Others to watch: Junior RB Josh Adams (6000, 185) has decent size/power and showed good speed to turn the corner and outrun defenders on a 48 yard TD early in the game. Freshman WR Chris Givens (6000, 200) is one to watch over the next few years. He went for 116 yards and a pair of TDs. He showed some nice football instincts, helping his QB when plays broke down. On the offensive line, senior LT Chris DeGeare (6040, 335) is a guy I wanted to watch. I don't think he can stay outside, but he has NFL depth guard written all over him--definitely a priority UDFA. A player who really impressed me was Senior RG Barrett McMillin (6030, 290). McMillin showed some surprising athleticism and technique. He gets to the second level effortlessly and then locates and engages well once there. He uses his hands very well too. He lacks strength right now, but that can be remedied.
