Carolina's order of interest:
1. Kurt Warner
2. Chad Pennington
3T. Tyler Thigpen
3T. Matt Leinart
So Craig, I'll start with you and the fossil (Warner), seeing as he is easily the best option for immediate improvement. Any specific needs/wants for him?
(To Johanns: If Warner falls through then I'll be talkin' to you, about Pennington.)

I like Tommie Harris. I obviously like 'The Man' (Urlacher), but that's a given. I doubt that they're available though. Or are they?

. And you probably saw earlier that I mentioned CIN's interest in Knox. I assume that he wasn't available, so I'll leave him be.
Those are just a few names off the top of my head. I'd love to hear your idea(s). There's always a happy medium, and I'm usually easy to deal with...lol.
Johanns21
Oct 29 2009, 11:20:55 AM
I'm willing to listen on Tommie Harris, but wouldn't find somebody to replace him. Maybe we can work out a 3 team trade where I can get Darnell Dockett. Yes Knox is probably not going to be available, but if an offer is blows me away for him I could pull the trigger.

How about....
- OT Andre Smith
- DT Tank Johnson
for
- DT Tommie Harris
- ? (any player on your roster, your choice)
How close am I? Or am I?...lol

Its an interesting offer and intriguing. However I'm a little more interested in Darnell Dockett.
If I'm going to trade Tommie Harris, I"m going to need to get a replacement for him. I don't know if bringing Tank Johnson back to Chicago would be a good option. Let me talk to Craig about Dockett first and if that doesn't work out we'll see.

Some names I like, though I believe they all lean one way or the other as far as 1 for 1 value:
------------------------------------
LB Brian Urlacher (since his name wasn't on your list).
DE/DT Jarron Gilbert
WR Juaquin Iglesias
RS/WR Devin Hester

Obviously, whatever deal is made will be vetoed if it's outside the lines of fairness. I'm no expert on value, especially OL. I hate admitting that outloud, but it's the truth. I wouldn't think that any of the aforementioned players have proven themselves thus far in their young careers. However, I do honestly think that all of them will be successful at some point, and at some level in the NFL. I could be wrong though, because I wrote long ago that Matt Ryan would be another Joey ? (that former Detoit QB...lol). So, you see, I'm no expert.
I do have a team talking with the Bengals for Smith. Possibly with a better potential outcome, for my team. Nothing in stone though, still talking. I just wanted to be upfront about it.
Obviously, a GMs job is to take the best deal. Even though it is a (possible) 1 for 1 deal. As it may (hopefully) be in this other negotiation that I'm mentioning.
