As far as the ESPN contract, that means nothing about his coaching intentions. Matter of fact it just gives him more leverage on his ultimate goal, landing a head coaching job.
It does three things. One, ESPN was afraid some other network might hire him, especially as he gains more broadcasting experience. Two, it gives him the security he needs in case he doesn't get a coaching position he likes. And thirdly, it keeps him in the spotlight, and on the minds of owners and GMs, as well as in weekly contact with them. A no lose situation for Gruden.
