College: Louisville Conference: Big East Columnist: Erik Sandelin
Johnny Patrick 19 5' 11.8" 184 4.55 CB 2011 - solid but unspectacular. Good but not great size. Good but not great speed. Willing to hit and support the run. Not a bad tackler for a corner. Despite his lack of pure speed, stays with receivers pretty well. Should stay inschool for another year. Grade - slightly positive
Jon Dempsey 38 6' 0.0" 241 4.75 LB 2010 - solid build. Decent speed for a MLB. Tackles well. Pretty good instincts. Not exactly a liability in coverage, but not a strength, either. Mid- to late-round pick who can contribute on special teams and obvious run downs. Active. Aware. Grade - better than Patrick, but still slightly positive
College: West Virginia Conference: Big East Columnist: Erik Sandelin
Reed Williams 47 6' 1.0" 228 4.78 LB 2010 - a little small for an MLB. A better fit in a Cover-2 scheme. Gets good depth in his drops and stays with TEs and RBs fairly well. Pretty good instincts. Solid tackler. Uses his hands OK to fend off blockers. Will probably go a bit lower than Dempsey, play on special teams, and could be all right in nickel and dime packages. Grade - slightly positive
Noel Devine 7 5' 8.0" 175 4.50 HB 2011 - I'm pretty sure I said this before about Devine, but he looks like another Darren Sproles. Tiny but dynamic. Excellent speed, moves, and quickness. The kind of player who can be exceptionally dangerous in spurts if used correctly. Get him out in space. Can return kicks. Should be given a shot at returning punts, too. Feed him the ball as an RB on draws, screens, and shovel passes. A threat to go the distance at any time. Missed the second half with an ankle injury. Tries in blitz pickup. Does try to bounce outside too much. Grade - positive
Jarrett Brown 16 6' 4.0" 221 4.59 QB 2010 - wasn't used as a thrower much in this game, but the raw skills are there. Big, with a big arm. Fairly accurate, even on the run. Runs very well. Looks to throw first and runs only when he has no other choice. Going through progressions and reading defenses needs work. Won't start right out of the gate, but, if brought along correctly, could play in the NFL. Grade - slightly positive
Wes Lyons 4 6' 8.0" 231 4.76 WR 2010 - barely a factor. One catch for six yards. Huge target, but very slow. Needs to work on route-running and awareness. Probably best if he bulks up and learns to block and becomes an H-back or TE. Grade - slightly negative
Selvish Capers 66 6' 5.0" 298 4.96 OT 2010 - lightly built and doesn't have much lead in his butt. Plays ORT for the Moutaineers, but should play on the left side in the pros. Light feet. Decent balance. Can pull and get downfield. Will hold his ground run-blocking, but is a better pass protector. Handles speed fine, but is susceptible to power and the bull rush. Grade - slightly positive
Robert Sands 2 6' 5.0" 211 4.60 S 2012 - should definitely wait until 2012 to enter the Draft, but I saw more out of him this tgame than the last time I looked at him. Great size. I think he's faster than his time would indicate. Was around the ball a lot more than the last time I watched him. Two solos, an assist, and a fumble recovery. Laid a good hit or two. Did get juked out of his shorts at one point by RB Darius Ashley. No Taylor Mays, but could be something in two years if he really works at it. Grade - slightly positive
Alric Arnett 82 6' 2.0" 180 4.49 WR 2010 - all of the WV receivers were quiet this day, but Arnett led them with three catches for 46yds. Didn't blow me away, but wasn't disapponting, either. Grade - neutral
