The Spartans of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland completed their third consecutive undefeated regular season this week with an impressive 28-8 pasting of a determined by talent-lacking Bears squad. CWRU hopes that this senior class (which was knocked out of the DIII playoffs the past two seasons by Wabash U.) will finally lead the team to some playoff success as well. CWRU is a typical DIII upper level team that wins their games by chucking the ball around a lot. Senior QB Dan Whalen is the man who makes this team go, and is a marginal PP.

Game Notes
Bobby Bott 20 5' 11.7" 193 4.70 S 2010: Plays CB at this level, but projects to safety. If he is sub-4.70 he can get into a camp. He was a CDS 2nd team AA and a TSN first-team AA; and, as a result, opposing QBs have been avoiding him like a plague this season. Did not sniff a pass in the first half, but had two PBUs and a PD in the second half when WashU decided to throw caution to the wind in an attempt to catch up. Displays nice ups, great hands and shows he understands what the opposing QB is trying to do. Has the size to play FS, and has the hands for it too. Good compact body and solid tackler. Best player in the game by far, and could play for any FCS program. GRADE: Positive
Dan Whalen 5 6' 0.3" 190 4.90 QB 2010: Great stats, but was picked off twice in the first half to bring his season total to 7. Pretty accurate in short to medium zones, and can uncork a long one. Not overly athletic. Doesn't possess a rocket. 6'0.3" is questionable. Can escape pressure and tote it a little at this level. Shows solid form, but will throw off his back foot occasionally. LOC is a HUGE issue with DIII QBs, and usually you can cut their stats in half when projecting them up two levels to FCS. Might get a whiff of a pro offer, but is likely going to be glad he attended this fine engineering school. GRADE: Neutral

OTHER NOTES:
CWRU: S Bradley Paramore has NFL size (#10, 6'0", 196) but is really more of a LB on most plays in the Spartans 3-3-5 scheme. Made some plays, but not enough to warrant further consideration. RB Corey Checken is a bowling ball (5'8", 200) who had a nice game.
WashU: Junior WR/RB/KR Tom Gulyas (#2, 5'8", 155) has some shake and bake and scoots pretty well. Impressive on middle screens. Senior RB Matt Glenn (#40, 5'10", 185) is a nice DIII back who has a bit of a burst.
