Adam Davis interviews Chris Ellis
Interviewed on: Monday, May 21st, 2007 Adam Davis: Hey Chris, thanks for interviewing with us. What was your last recorded height, weight, and 40 time? Chris Ellis: 6-4 1/4, 267, and 4.55. AD: How do you spend the off-season? CE: Well it's my 5th summer up in Blacksburg. I'm working out a lot, just rehabbing the shoulder. Getting strong and getting back into the swing of things. AD: What are you looking forward to? CE: The LSU game of course. I'm excited to play the SEC again. We left on a sour note last year versus Georgia. It's a night game and the travel... it's going to be awesome to go into someone else's home who's ranked higher than us. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do things. AD: What can we expect from VT? CE: Same philosophy really. We are going to lead on the D. I think the offense will contribute and the key players will step up on offense. AD: What are your personal goals? CE: To have the number 1 rated defense 3 years in a row, I think we would be the first to do that. I want to be remembered as the best class to leave Tech. Of course a national championship is always the goal here at Virginia Tech. We have the schedule to do it and if we take care of business we can be right there. AD: How did the Virginia Tech massacre affect the football team? CE: Definitely brought attention here. We want to be able to help the community. There is going to be a big ceremony the first game with jets going over the stadium and everything. It did affect the spring practice too; we canceled it. AD: Who's the team to beat in the ACC? CE: Overall, I think Clemson, they have the 2 running backs. FSU, we have had to play them in the championship over the last few years. We are 0-12 against them and we get a chance to play them in the regular season. AD: What would you like to improve on most? CE: Probably just following through and getting stronger. I'm working on finishing plays and and being able to make the sack or tackle. AD: What do you feel is the ideal spot for you in the NFL? CE: 3-4 rush end or a stand up guy who can cover the flat, or anywhere I can apply pressure really. With my size I think I could do it, I just want to fit in where needed. That's a benefit with so many teams switching over to a 3-4. AD: What is the best part of playing defensive end? CE: You get to do a little of everything. Some coverage, rush, stop the run, I've had an interception. You just get the chance to play all over. AD: What do you feel are your biggest strengths? CE: My speed getting to the ball. I think I'm good at finding the ball wherever it's at. AD: What about weaknesses? CE: I'd still like to work more on the pass rush. I gotta be stronger at the point of attack. I want to put on weight so I can bullrush a guy and he goes "Where did that come from?!" AD: What do you like to do outside of football? CE: A lot of movies, watch DVDs, I go to Blockbuster every chance I get! |
