Marc Bulger has been a good quarterback in the league, but his time as the starter is nearing the end. The Rams passed on Matt Ryan in 2008 and Mark Sanchez in 2009. They cannot afford to pass on another top level quarterback this year. Ndamukong Suh has dominated this year. He leads the team in tackles for the second straight year, he has two interceptions, numerous pass break ups and has even blocked to kicks. He is very disruptive and he can bring some much needed production to a defensive line that hasn't had much since Warren Sapp and Simion Rice where playing there. Last year before the combine I believed that Malcolm Jenkins would be staying in state and playing for the Browns. But he put up poor 40 times and fell out of top 10 consideration. The Browns however never addressed the secondary in the draft even though they lost their starting safety Sean Jones to the Eagles in the off season. Berry would upgrade any secondary he joins. He was very good the past couple of years, but now he has the legendary Monte Kiffin teaching him the nuances of defense. Look for him to make an immediate impact in the NFL. Well the Titans are not the same team that finished last year with the best regular season record. They probably could use a different quarterback, but there is nobody here worth that pick. They have also missed the presence of Albert Haynesworth who left in free agency. Here they have the chance to land another dominate defensive tackle that could follow in Haynesworth's foot steps. The way Scott Pioli wants to build the Chiefs is through the offensive and defensive lines. Last year they drafted Tyson Jackson and Alex McGhee and even Glen Dorsey seems to be finding his stride. With all the attention to the defensive line they could focus more on the offensive side of the ball and find protection for their franchise quarterback Matt Cassell. Brandon Albert should be moved back to a more natural guard spot and here they can get the best tackle in the draft in Okung to play the left side. I've had the Raiders going with Taylor Mays for a while and still think in that direction, but since they invested a second round pick in Michael Mitchell I could see them looking a different way. Al Davis still loves his freakish athletes and Kindle is one of them. He will play linebacker for them and he would be an effective blitzer also. The Lions are much improved team this year, but they still have many holes to fill on this team. Last year they went after best player available and came away with some very good players that will be the cornerstone to their franchise. Look for them to do the same here. Dunlap is a freakish athlete that is a very good pass rusher. Maybe Jim Schwartz can get the same production out of Dunlap that he got out of another freakish defensive end named Javon Kearse. The Redskins need help along their offensive line. Chris Samuels announced his retirement and that is going to leave a big hole. Williams is better suited to play the right tackle spot, but is playing left tackle this year so that could help him getting on the field right away. (From Carolina) The 49ers are benefiting here from the lack of success of the Panthers. The 49ers have had some good success this season, but could use some help in the secondary. Mays is a safety in a linebackers body. He is very similar to Adrain Wilson from the Cardinals. He should be a good fit in the 49ers 3-4 defense where he can use his good tackling skills in run support and even blitz some. This could be an interesting pick for the Seahawks. Since they have two first round picks they can go for a luxury instead of a need. Well this fits both. They need a quality back up for Matthew Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck has shown he can no longer play a full season and is probably at the end of his career. Seneca Wallace is an ok quarterback, but he is a back up. Locker has come on strong since the hiring of Steve Sarkisian, but is still a little raw. Here he can stay in state and sit for a year and learn from a very smart and talented quarterback before taking over in year two or three. The Bills traded away disgruntled left tackle Jason Peters before the draft. The plan was to move Langston Walker from right tackle to left tackle. Well the experiment failed. Walker was awful and was eventually cut. Brown has been soaring up draft boards and could be the new left tackle for the Bills. Mike Sims-Walker has come out of no where and had a great start in his second year. This has given quarterback David Garrard a go to receiver he has never enjoyed. However I'm anxious to see if Walker can keep this up. And even though he can they still lack playmakers to go with him. Williams is an elite route runner that has great hands. Having him on the same team as Tory Holt will only make him better. I've really been down on Cody for a while, but he is starting to impress me a lot. He seems to be in a lot better shape and is more motivated than he was last year. The 49ers could really use some help in the middle of their 3-4 defensive line. Plus Mike Singleterry would be the perfect coach to keep Cody motivated and ready to go. Bill Parcells loves to draft linebackers and defensive backs, and its tempting to think that they could go after Rolando McClain. However they are desperate for a receiver. Ted Ginn Jr. has disappointed and they almost pulled the trigger on a trade that would have sent him to Baltimore. They need somebody to come in and be the number one receiver that Chad Henne needs. Williams is an excellent route runner and would be a very good possession receiver. (From Chicago) The Broncos have done a very very good job this season when most people thought they would finish with one of the worst records in the league. The defense has played great and a lot of credit has to go to Mike Nolan. However they do have some issues along the defensive line and could benefit from having a talented defensive tackle that is probably the best 3-4 defensive end in the draft. The Texans have playmakers all over their defense, exept the safety position. Here they can get a talented safety who can also man up on receivers. Either LT or Sproles are not going to be back next year so they need to get sombody in to help out. I've had the Jets taking a receiver here for a while, but with Braylon Edwards joining the team in a trade that thought goes out the window. Here they can look to add pieces to their defensive line and get a dynamic defensive tackle in Ogalbaase who can slide over and play in the 5 technique defensive end in their 3-4 defense. The Ravens are not getting the production out of the cornerback position that they thought they would get. Lindley is a big physical corner that would fit well into their system. The Green Bay Packers have been awful at protecting Aaron Rogers. Chad Clifton has been alright, but he was hurt during the Vikings game and Jared Allen abused TJ Lang. The Packers have to address the position. The Eagles have very good starting linebackers, but injuries have exposed their lack of depth. Norwood has excelled since being moved to the linebacker spot and his skills that he has rushing the passer will help him in their blitz happy defense. The Falcons let their two starting outside linebackers leave in free agency last year and only brought in Mike Peterson. While their defense has played well they could look at improving their linebacking core and moving Peterson to the back up spot. Arizona's offense should be set for a while, so they can look to find building blocks for their defense. Hughes is a former running back prospect that has been very explosive rushing the passer. He should translate well to the rush linebacker spot in the Cardinals 3-4 defense. The Cowboys have been looking to improve the middle of their 3-4 for a while now. They brought in Zach Thomas and that didn't work out. They brought in Keith Brooking and that hasn't been working out. McClain is a very good linebacker who has a lot of experience playing in the 3-4 and being coached by Nick Saban. Lets not forget about the talented tight end from Oklahoma. He is very talented and would be a top 15 pick, but his season ending knee injury has hurt his stock. The Giants would love to add another playmaker and safety valve for Eli. Gresham would also complement Kevin Boss very well. The defending Super Bowl champions lost starting cornerback Bryant McFadden in free agency to the Cardinals. Thompson isn't very big, but he is tough and a sure tackler which makes up for his height. The Bengals had a very good draft last year and added many pieces to their team that has allowed them to have such a good start to the season. Here they can add a safety that fits well into their system. don't think there was a single person that saw the Richard Seymor trade coming. But they did get one heck of a deal out of it, so all the power to them. However they do need to find a replacement for him. Austin is a very good defensive tackle and should make an easy transition to the 3-4 defensive end. Pierre-Paul is only in his first year in Division 1 football since coming from the Junior College ranks. But he has great size and athletic ability which has allowed him to have an unbeleive able season out shining fellow defensive end George Selvie. The Vikings could use somebody opposite of Jared Allen to provide more pass rush. Plus Pierre-Paul is still a little raw and could learn from the Vikings experienced line. The Seahawks haven't had a good running back since Shaun Alexander's MVP season. The Saints planned on drafting AJ Hawk before Reggie Bush fell into their lap. Last year Brian Cushing was a possibility for them. Here they have the opprotunity to get an athletic linebacker to pair up next to Jonathan Vilma. For the longest time I've had the Colts targeting a receiver with their first round pick, but with the emergence of Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie I doubt they go down that road anymore. They do need some help along the offensive line at the tackle position. |

Posted by timb2 on 10/29/09 - 2:02PM Rolando McClain wouldn't get pass the Eagles anyways. They are not sure Stewart Bradley will be the same player after the knee injury and signed the prehistoric Jerimah Trotter to be the MIKE....Titans are also going to get a QB,they are not going to pay Vince Young 14 million next season so he can sulk on the sideline listening to his MP3.....Google Arthur Jones picture and tell me his lack of arm strength is going to muscle through OTs like the Browns Joe Thomas?Jones looks weak. Then google Mike Neal(Purdue) Vincent Oghobaasee(Duke),CJ Wilson(East Carolina). You are going to tell us that Arthur Jones has 1st round talent with his 3 sacks his junior season? Beating up on Temple,Villanova, and Maine is not selling me.Big East hype.New York sportwriters bias garbage hyping this local bum. Posted by Johanns21 on 10/30/09 - 7:30AM How do you know that Bradley is not going to be the same player? People recover all the time from knee injuries. This is his first one too. Its not like he has chronic issues. Look at Correll Buckhalter. He has had probably two knee operations on each knee and he is still producing. They signed Trotter because they needed depth this year. I could see them drafting a middle linebacker but not in the first round. Bradley has shown that he is a very good middle linebacker and they are not going to give up on him. Posted by Johanns21 on 10/30/09 - 7:33AM You continue to amaze me on your evaluation of talent. First its all about the 40. I remember you making a comment on a mock draft where you said that Trent Williams will go a certain place because he will run a 4.7 40. Then you go onto highlights on youtube. Now you are determining how a player is do based on a google images picture. Come on man. Watch the games. See how they play. I'm not the only one that is really high on Jones. The experts that get paid to do this believe he is going to be good and they know a lot more about it then you and I. Posted by timb2 on 10/30/09 - 10:38AM Jones couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag with his skinny arms.Let's go over his sacks this season. Minnesota zero sacks ,Penn State zero sacks,Northwestern zero sacks,Maine zero sacks,South Florida zero sacks.I mean what was I thinking.Arthur Jones was shutout by that powerhouse Maine.Yeah Jones is a 1st round talent. I can't believe I missed that one. Posted by Johanns21 on 10/30/09 - 10:45AM But look at what position he is going to translate to. 3-4 defensive end. At that position your not expected to get sacks. Your responsible for two gaps and stopping the run. Look at Tyson Jackson last year. Did he have good sack numbers at LSU? Probably not. And he was taken at #3 because of his potential in the 3-4. Now if you are looking for a 4-3 defensive tackle to penetrate up the field and cause problems than Jones isn't your guy. But in the 3-4 he has a lot of good qualities. Now he may not be top 15 or 20 worthy, but he will get drafted higher because of the need for good 3-4 defensive lineman. Just like Tyson Jackson isn't the 3rd best player in the draft, but teams needed that type of player and there isn't a whole lot of them in the draft. Posted by timb2 on 10/30/09 - 11:15AM I didn't like Tyson Jackson going #3 overall either. He could have been had later in the late teens.Jackson will be a bust.A warm body taking up blockers. They could have gotten that type of player in the later rounds....I don't mind 3-4 DEs,but they should be able to get pressure still. Posted by Johanns21 on 10/30/09 - 11:21AM But thats the thing. When I make my drafts I predict where I think a team is going to go. I didn't think Tyson Jackson was a top 15 player, but in my last mock I had him going to KC at #3. I don't make my draft where I want teams to go. Posted by MeanJoeGreene75 on 10/30/09 - 5:18PM Great early season mock draft. As for the Steelers I think we still need to improve our o-line, Roethlisberger has been sacked 20 times this year; some are his fault but with P.Manning only hitting the ground twice we can do much better. O'Dowd at C would be a start toward that since last year we were targeting Wood or Mack, if we do go CB i like Javier Arenas Posted by timb2 on 10/31/09 - 3:43PM Titans will not pay Vince Young 14 million next year for Vince Young. Young wanted a trade before training camp this summer. He sulked all last season. He will be gone and Titans need a QB......I also don't even think the Rams are that foolish to pick Jimmy Clausen 1st overall.Clausen will be a bust as a pro......Kindle has absolutely done nothing this year.He will not go 4th overall......Allen & Burnett will not be 1st rounders.Hard enough most safeties are ignored during the 1st round.Mays & Berry are the exception this year.....Gresham will slide because of the knee injury and might not be the same player.Knee injuries usually take two years to fully recover.NFL teams will not be patient for players to recover especially rookies. a few of these guys I expect to go in the second round rather then 1st but not to bad, I am not feeling the Capers pick I am not sold he has the quickness to keep guys like Allen off of Rodgers, USF had a nice day against the entire West Virginia Line the other day. |
