OverviewCyprus Springs (TX) grad who was ranked among the top-60 safeties in the country by Rivals.com coming out of HS. Marcus was an honorable mention all-state selection and first-team all-district pick. Collected 112 tackles and added five interceptions as a senior. Really did not come into his own at Mizzou until his senior year when he was named 1st-Team All-Big 12 by the Associated Press, as well as league coaches after leading the Tigers with 103 tackles, 5 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and 2 interceptions. Played very well at the inaugural Texas v. The Nation Game in El Paso on 2-2-07, when he was one of the defensive leaders of the Texas team.
StrengthsPretty fast, fluid and agile. Good hips. Gets back in coverage and covers well for a smallish LB. Could possibly be tried as SS down the road, but would need a TON of coaching up.
WeaknessesA tweener who is too small for FT duty as an NFL linebacker, and too untrained (and true speed is an unkown quantity at this point) to be drafted as a SS project. Will have to make his living on teams, until a staff decides what to do with him.
ProjectionPriority UDFA.
