Overview

Continues the long tradition of great Buckeye defensive backs. Four year starter in Columbus. Came back for his senior season and it really helped him, even though he probably would have been a first round pick last year. First Team All American in 2007, and First Team All Big 10 in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

Had a rough combine, unable to break 4.55 in the 40-yard dash and triggering questions as to whether or not he must be a safety at the next level. Dropped a few pounds in an effort to be faster for the Ohio State Pro Day, but failed running 4.58 and 4.55.

Strengths

Versatility-Able to play any spot in the secondary. Is tough enough to be a safety, is pretty fast, and instinctive enough to play corner in Tamp-2 schemes. Great experience, a four year starter who made a total of Tremendous ball skills. Very physical throughout the play and will not shy away from making the tough tackle. Able blitzer. Big upside. Rarely beat deep. Good fluid hips and has the agility to to stay with quick shifty receivers, but also has the size to stay with the tall possession receivers. Also is a very good special teams player, blocking 2 kicks in 2008. Reminds me a lot of where Champ Bailey was coming out of college(minus the offensive talent Champ possessed).

Weaknesses

This past year he was beaen deep more than I had ever seen. This was explained in the post-season when his rumored 4.3 forty times were shown to be just that...rumors. Sometimes falls for a double move by the receiver. Although rare, he will sometimes go on autopilot when playing the receiver and will forget to use fundamentals.

Projection

Like Buckeye corners before him, Jenkins will garner a first round grade and should be the second or third corner taken. Will most likely be tried first at corner, but has the ability to play safety as well. With his experience and size/speed combo he should be a very successful defensive back in the NFL.

Jenkins is not as good as advertised. He looks the part, had the hype machine in full gear, but can't even break anything lower than 4.55.He is also very stiff and has no hips to turn.During the combine drills Deion Sanders said it best "He is killing himself"

The Baltimore Ravens need a tall physical corner like Jenkins. With Chris Mcallister getting old and falling apart and Samari Rolle doing the same, Jenkins would be the top corner for the Ravens next to the surprisingly decent Fabian Washington.

Jenkins is a playmaker, and a really good tackler. Cleveland and Green Bay are possible destinations for him

He will be a top 5 corner in the league, he is my favorite corner to come out since Quentin Jammer, Jenkins is big, and fast, he'll beable to cover the best receivers in football, and truely be a shut down corner.

Some have him going as low as 10 but no way does he reach that pick imo. He'll end up in the top 5.

Better overall CB than former Bucks Winfield and Clements. The only knock is that he tries for the knockout tackle too much. A legit difference maker right away in the Champ Bailey mold

I don't know why 4.3 is not 'elite' speed. Dude won numerous track speed titles in high school. Also, how is this guy a 'tweener'? I would take a 6-1, 200 lb. 4.3 CB any day of the week! He may slow down in a decade or so, then you may have to move him to FS, but until then, he is the best CB to come out since Antonio Cromartie.

Although I would like to see the Bills change to a 3/4 and take a stud D lineman here I would be happy with a stud corner from "Cornerback U"

The most physical corner available has 4.3 speed coupled with size and intelligence, an irresistable combination for NFL teams that must contend with the new trend of tall, physical receivers found in the NFL today. At 19 and a 3 year starter for Corner Back U, this kid has tremendous potential. He has the potential to redefine the position and can make a team better without making plays (opponents will game plan staying away from him.)

After watching him play last season he looks like true shutdown corner at the college level and guy who will be a force once he reaches the NFL. He reminds me alot of Nate Clements and fully expect for him to be a top 10 pick when he decides to enter the draft be it this year or the next
