Overview

A very versatile tight end who came who didn't switch to end until last season. Played defensive and linebacker, but found a home at end and ended up being a Mackey Award Finalist. Will be the top offensive weapon for the Badgers this year.

Strengths

Has the moves of a wide receiver in a tight ends body. Very strong and physical at the point of attack. Blocking is above average and has really come along as a receiver.

Weaknesses

Still learning the ins and outs of the position. Is not a big threat after the catch. Is a little smaller than the average TE and may be more of an H-Back in th pros.

Projection

After a breakout season in 06, Beckum is all over radars now and comes into his junior year as one of the top tight ends in the country. Has all the tools but size and will have a tough decision after this season on his future in Madison.

If he gains about twenty pounds he could be a prolific player in the NFL.
