OverviewVoted MVP of team in 2007, 2nd team All American in 2007, 1st Team Big 10 in 2007. Highly recruited RB coming out of Akron, Ohio.
Did well at the NFL Combine, running 4.54 and 4.57 unofficial forties, with a 10'7" broad jump and 25 bench reps. Ran even better at the Ohio State Pro Day: 4.44/4.38. StrengthsChris "Beanie" Wells runs with incredible power, but also possesses good speed. Incredibly strong, said to outbench and outsquat many of the Buckeye linemen. Keeps his body low to the ground and his powerful legs allow him to power through countless defenders. Great vision, and follows the blocks nicely. Could use a few better moves to make defenders miss, but generally runs North-South. The one bright spot in Ohio State's blowout loss to LSU in the BCS championship last year. Has one of the best stiff arms I've ever seen, with one or two dazzling ones per game. Very solid at picking up blocks. Has solid blocking potential.
WeaknessesNot the best receiver, with below average hands. Does not have consistent functional breakaway speed despite his timed speed. Has dealt with ongoing injuries throughout his career at OSU, raising durability questions.
ProjectionBeanie has franchise back written all over him. He runs with power but also has very deceptive speed. He is not the prospect that Adrian Peterson was coming out of college, but Beanie should be among the top 15 selections, and should be the first running back selected.
