Committed to NC State in spring of 2003 out of Williamsport Area High School, but attended Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va. where he rushed 220 times for 2,323 yards and 22 TDs while averaging 10.6 yards per carry in his senior season. College, in 2004 he led the ACC and ranked 3rd nationally in punt returns with a 17.83 average, even though he didn’t return a kick until the 8th game of the season and has 206 yards rushing. In 2005 he led the ACC and ranked 6th in the nation in kickoff returns with 29.1 yards per return. He also earned second-team All-ACC honors as a specialist and was a second-team rivals.com All-American. In 2006 he was a first-team All-ACC performer as a specialist, he was named a preseason all-conference specialist by Blue Ribbon and tallied 549 yards in kickoff returns, the 6th best mark in school. He also led the ACC with a 28.9 KOR average.

He has great speed and solid open field moves. He is a threat on deep passes and with his moves and break away speed. He also has solid body control and balance.

5-11, 210, he lacks great size as a receiver and lack experience. This will lower his stock, scouts will see him more as a special teams guy, and a backup on offense. Not the best hands either, but he has improved year to year.
