Overview

A prospect with an intriguing size/speed ratio, and seemed to be poised to break out based on last years, however his senior year was a bit of a disappointment.
2006 Season Baird moved from safety down to outside linebacker and was in action in 11 of the 12 games for the Pirates posting 29 tackles, including 18 solo stops and a career-high five tackles in games against North Carolina A&T, Morgan State and Florida A&M… recorded a career-best four solo tackles at Florida A&M and three tackles behind the line of scrimmage for a loss of 17 yards… combined with a teammate for half a sack versus Howard and Bethune-Cookman.
Baird blocked a punt against Central State in the Circle City Classic that led to a Hampton touchdown.

2005 Season
Played in all 12 games… registered five solo stops and five assists for a total of 10 tackles… had his best outing of the year with four tackles (2 solo) in the Battle of the Bay against Norfolk State.
2004 Season
Baird racked up playing time in all 12 games for the Pirates during the 2004 campaign seeing most of his action on the field with the special teams unit totalling one tackle for loss on the year in a contest against Norfolk State also two tackles (one solo) in contests against Howard, at Delaware State and at South Carolina State racked up two assisted tackles against Norfolk State, and against versus Morgan State in the New York Urban League Classic rang up 13 total tackles for the season.

Strengths

Has a large enough frame to have a chance to play "Will" LB, has vertical leaped 40 inches, has decent ball skills and is a jarring hitter.

Weaknesses

A 'tweener' who seemed less confortable cacked off of the line as a Senior than earlier in his career. It looks like he would be best as an in the 'box' strong saftey though not quite an Atwater-type intimidator.

Projection

An UDFA with the potential to become a starter in the right system if he works hard and a team is patient with him.
