OverviewBoo is a 2005 graduate of Richwood High School in Monroe, Louisiana where he earned all-state honors in Class 3A football, and was picked for All-Northeast Louisiana and all-district accolades. Boo was also named first team All-District most valuable player. He tallied 128 tackles as a senior with 10 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 26 tackles for loss and 39 quarterback hurries, and he helped lead Richwood to the state quarterfinals as a senior. He was also named to the Academic All-State team and was a 2004 Wendy's High School Heisman nominee. Boo was a three-year All-American scholar and a member of the National Society of High School scholars. He is able to bench 370 and squat 515 pounds. A versatile athlete, Boo was also a second team all-district selection in baseball and team most valuable player for the baseball team.
At Wake Forest, he reshirted in 2005, then broke in with 35 tackles as a backup in 2006, during which he started one ballgame. In 2007, he really began to send out a notice that he was a rising DT to be contended with in the ACC, starting 15 games and putting up 23 tackles with 6 TFLs and 3 sacks. StrengthsHas very good athleticism for the position, and is one of only a very few DTs who, if he declares, can be drafted as a pure 3-4 NT. Has great size and can still go 20 pounds bigger if you need him at nose, or can be drafted as a 4-3 DT and stay at 300. Agile for such a big man. Caves the pocket. Must be double-teamed. Strong and very, very smart. Can outthink and outmanuever most offensive linemen. Sets them up, and then gets them on a counter move. Getting better and stronger every year. Has loads of upside.
WeaknessesHas some physical maturing to complete, and can still add some muscle. Has non-football options. Not a vibrant pass rusher at this point in his development. Can still use some leverage and technique work. Not a finisher on the pass rush yet.
Projection3rd round, at worst. Could go in the first with good post-season workouts.
