OverviewWhat can this kid not do? Willing runner who has 1st round written all over him. Was named as the SEC Offensive Freshman of the year and has been an AP, SEC Coaches and Rivals All-SEC First Team selection.
Prior to this season, he was named as an ESPN Preseason First Team All-American and was selected to the All-SEC Preseason First Team. StrengthsMoreno has an innate ability to break off big runs. Uses his stiff arm well to hold off guys trying to bring him down. Breaks tackles on a regular basis. Great vision. Always secures the football well to avoid fumbles.
WeaknessesComes off the field a lot on 3rd down, so there may be questions about his catching ability. The fact that his career high to date is 3 receptions in one game could also point to that.
ProjectionMoreno is a different type of back to both Adrian Peterson and Darren McFadden, guys who have gone in the top 10 in recent drafts, but Moreno certainly deserves that label too. Could even be a top 5 guy.

User: Rotak Date/Time: 11/6/2008 - 6:44AM CST Predicted Round: Round 1 When you watch Moreno, you feel like you're watching somebody special. He just seems to be a special back. And I absolutely love his enthusiasm for pass protection. Don't see that often. When you scout him, you realize he is not bulky at all - he's very tightly muscled, which implies dedication to football but perhaps a naturally small frame. You'd like him to be bigger or faster for his size - he's certainly big/fast enough in the NFL, but he's not extraordinarily big or fast. Because of that, it is easy to think he is overrated. But what Moreno does so well is he has above-average vision and excellent cutback ability. He's going to put up a lot of yards his offensive line doesn't deserve, and he'll gash poor defenses. He also has outstanding body control, and it seems 2 or 3 plays a game he should be down, but somehow avoids hitting the ground for another 5-6 yards. Some guys are athletes, some are football players. Moreno is a plenty good athlete. But he's a special football player. Rate This Player |
