Overview

Athletic playmaker who produces in the clutch. A 4-time MAC 1st Teamer - only one of three Rockets to ever be so honored. 2nd on Rockets defense with 98 tackles in '09 and totalled more than 92 tackles since his sophomore year. 34-6 vertical jump with 4.5 speed - Jim Thorpe semi-finalist and Bronco Nagurski nominee.

Strengths

Combines cornerback coverage technique with linebacker will-to-hit and run-support tackling. Perhaps most experienced safety in the draft. Versatile - can rush the passer well and drop back in coverage. Makes plays when it counts - blocked FG try to seal 20-19 win versus Northern Illinois and returned INT for TD as frosh against Kansas in OT win. Durable - never missed a start in 4 years.

Weaknesses

Can improve in man-to-man coverage. Sometimes overaggressive in reacting to fakes. Could be perceived as a 'tweener. Few weaknesses overall.

Projection

3rd round. Exceptional performance at the combine will move him higher.
