OverviewAndre is a 2005 graduate of Greenville's (NC)Rose High School. A Parade All-American as a senior for Coach Greg Thomas in 2003, Andre attended Hargrave Military Academy in 2004. Coming out of high school he was considered the 13th-best prep school player nationally according to Rivals.com and was named North Carolina’s Associated Press Player of the Year in 2003. He rushed for a state record 3,479 yards as a senior in 2003 and averaged more than 12 yards a carry that year. Andre helped lead Greenville Rose to a state 4-A title during his senior season in 2003 and scored 47 career touchdowns.
At NC State, Andre stepped in immediately as a contributor in 2005, starting 6 games and tallying 129-667-6. He also grabbed 7 ball for 77 yards. In 2006, he racked up 124-658-4 while catching 9 balls for 52. In 2007 his numbers were down as he fracture his foot and missed 4 complete games, but still put up 95-447-5 and caught 25 passes good for 195 yards. Andre really helped himself during the post-season and at the Combine, and has moved into 3-4th round consideration as a result. LATE NOTE: Showed up four pounds heavier at the NC State Pro Day and ran a 4.28 short shuttle with a 7.04 3-cone, while keeping the rest of his numbers from the Combine. StrengthsYou've got to love this guy's pro size and determination. Not the most talented guy around, but really brings his A game week in and week out. Powerful N-S runner who understands he will never be an E-W back. Has a little wiggle for his size. Finishes runs. Runs people over. Smart.
WeaknessesNot really a tackle-breaker, or homerun threat. Not big enough or fast enough to carry a "wow" factor, but the kind who will slip into camp and be very hard for the Turk to find. Hasn't proven his hands, and has never been a FT feature back.
Projection3-5th round.
