OverviewAnthony is a 2002 graduate of Clearview High School in Houston, TX. That fall, he matriculated at Hargrave Military Academy, and played pretty well, and drawing the attention of the Wolfpack recruiters. He collected 10 catches after switching to tight end from the defensive side of the ball at Hargrave. In H.S., he played defensive end in high school and was rated No. 44 nationally at his position by Rivals.com. At Hargrave, Anthony was a teammate of former Wolfpack wide receiver Darrell Blackman.
During his first season with NC State in 2004, he saw action in 4 games and caught one pass. In 2005, he started 11 of 12 and tallied 15-402-1. In 2006, he totalled 45-619-0 and was named 2nd-team all-ACC. He missed 2007 with a torn ACL he suffered in July of that year, but came back strong in 2008. LATE NOTE: Showed up at 260 for the Duke Pro Day bu did not workout, choosing to stand on his Combine performance where he ran 4.81 unofficially. StrengthsConsistent hands. An inline blocker. Can both block and catch. Sneaky. Carries out block-and-release plays very well. Quick off the LOS. Nice size and OK speed. One of the more complete TEs in the 2009 class, but not a stud in any particular area of TE play.
WeaknessesSlightly overaged, and may have maxed out his potential already. Surgically repaired knee needs to be fully checked out. Is not a real seam stretcher, and not a killer blocker. Is big enough, but lacks growth potential. Has the look of a career backup and journeyman.
ProjectionSolid 5-6th rounder.
