Overview

Dallas Baker is a big target who took a bit of a back seat to Chad Johnson a year ago, but has taken the bull by the horns during this, his senior, season to showcase his talents. The nephew of former NFL WR Wes Chandler, Baker became a clutch receiver for the Gators this past fall.

Strengths

Size and strength. He gets himself in position to make a catch and his size and strength help to keep the defender away from the ball. He'll get the ball at its highest point and can catch effectively with his hands. Once he has the ball, he's a load for a small DB to bring down. Baker is also a very willing and able blocker in the secondary. He has the frame to add additional bulk.

Weaknesses

Baker will never be mistaken for one of those quick twitch, explosive, burners. He's got enough speed to be dangerous, but he'll never pose a big threat to a secondary because of it. He's a long-strider who takes a while to get to full speed. While Baker does excel in the short yardage areas, he has dubious courage going across the middle and often hears the footsteps. He's a late maturer (already 24 years old) and has a couple off-field issues for scouts to be aware of.

Projection

In a draft that will see an influx of outstanding underclassmen declaring early, Baker could slide some and should be an early second day pick.

Dallas Baker would get much more attention if he wasn't surrounded by great athletes. He definitely has the size, athleticism, and feel for the game to be productive in the NFL. I like that he plays more aggressively than most college WR's. He should definitely make a roster and he can be a decent contributor someday.

I think Dallas Baker is going to be a Stud Reciever in the NFL. I like the projection at pick 10 in 3rd round.
