Overview

Junior who has declared for the 2010 NFL draft. Well-traveled former Ole Miss player who transferred to DII after a spotty career at Hargrave Military and Ole Miss.

Mico is a 2003 graduate of Richton (MS) High where compiled outstanding prep numbers and was selected to the Division 8-2A Super 22 Team and was named first team All-Area by The Hattiesburg American and WDAM-TV. As a junior in 2002, Mico was named to the Hattiesburg American All-Area second team and All-Division 8-2A and he was selected to play in 2003 Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game. Mico rushed for 1,010 yards on 90 carries his senior year, averaging 11.2 yards per carry and completed 12 passes for 82 yards and two TDs and caught 32 passes for 457 yards. He also playe some safety and was credited with 19 tackles and also Returned seven punts for 204 yards and two TDs, and averaged 29 yards per return. Mico returned 12 kickoffs for 277 yards and five TDs, with three called back due to penalties. Overall he had 2,034 all-purpose yards and 18 TDs and even kicked 15 extra points.

In 2003, while at Hargrave, Mico started all 10 games at safety and helped his team to a 9-1 record. Played safety and was credited with 45 tackles, and intercepted two passes, returning one for a TD. He also had TD kickoff returns of 95 and 85 yards and broke up 12 passes and had one QB sack.

In 2004, Mico redshirted at Ole Miss, before being named Honorable mention Freshman All-America selection by The Sporting News in 2005 after playing in the first nine games of the season with six starts and establishing an Ole Miss freshman rushing record with 612 yards. In 2006, he appeared in 11-of-12 games, made two starts at flanker and one at tailback and finished third on the team with 140 rushing yards on 27 attempts, with one touchdown and tallied five receptions for 19 yards.

After that, the trail goes cold until he emerges at UNA in the fall of 2008, and puts up some decent numbers. This past season (his redshirt junior year) he put up a very nice line with 55 catches for 913 yards (a respectable 16.6 ypc) and 8 TDs.

Strengths

Very nice size and versatility. Can run, pass, kick, throw and play safety in a pinch. Athletic. Fast and fluid. Looks the part. Has been productive. Shows some leadership ability. Gives decent effort when blocking. Will catch in traffic.

Weaknesses

Let's the ball into his body. Below average hands overall. Average ups. Average overall awareness and adjustment to the ball. Jack of all trades, master of none. Average release off the line. Was not used as a runner in 2009, and his freshman running exploits at Ole Miss are now ancient history. Lazy when he isn't getting the ball. Whiffs at times when blocking. Needs upper body development and a Juggs machine. Needs to play more physically. Will be a 26-year old rookie. A bit of an enigma. Will need to be fully evaluated as far as his off-the-field resume is concerned.

Projection

Late, late pick or priority UDFA.
