Overview

In 2007 Mitchell, a Redshirt Jr. who began his career at West Virginia, was selected First team All-MEAC and he was at one time was considered a strong candidate to succeed Pat White. Mitchell is a good athlete with above average arm.
Last season he was the starting signal-caller for all 11 games with 173 completions on 332 attempts 17TDs 7Ints, 2309 yards, 52.1% completion percentage 123.21 efficiency rating and a longest connection of 78 yards. finished the season with 2,449 yards of total offence. He passed for 17 touchdowns and set a new single season record for total yards passing with 2,309 yards. Mitchell set the new HU single season record for passes completed in a season with 173 completions, breaking the old mark of 150 by Princeton Shepherd.

2007 Mitchell appeared in seven games for the Pirates, tallying one start in 06 during which he completed 37-of-68 passes on the year for 372 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. While coming off the bench in the season opener against Grambling State he lead the Pirates to a come-from-behind victory, tossing a 9-yard touchdown pass to Onrea Jones with 1:10 remaining to tie the game at 20, he followed that with a 10-yard touchdown pass in overtime providing the winning score and finishing the game 6-of-16 for 89 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. His first career start came during homecoming against Winston-Salem State, he hit on 17-of-27 passes for 144 yards, including a 12-yard first quarter touchdown strike.

2005 (WEST VIRGINIA)
He redshirted during the 2005 season, but completed 7-of-13 passes for 101 yards and a 7-yard touchdown in the Mountaineers’ spring game.

Strengths

He has plenty of natural ability, can make virtually all the throws, has speed and quickness is a little like Josh Johnson.

Weaknesses

Much like Josh Johnson he is a little slender but not quite as mechanically sound, will need to improve pocket presence, accuracy and reading of defenses.

Projection

Will need to stay in school for 5th year, study film and bulk up.
