Virginia's Profile for Cedric Peerman

Cedric was a four-year, both-ways starter and star for coach Brad Bradley at William Campbell HS in Gladys, VA. He was named a PrepStar All-American and piled up several state records, including 708 career points. He was second in state history with 112 touchdowns, and gained 5,078 yards rushing and 787 yards receiving. Cedric was named a two-time first-team all-state performer for those efforts, and was the state "Player of the Year" as a senior. As a senior, he led the state with 45 touchdowns, and his 280 points are the third-highest total in state history. Cedric was also a standout sprinter and long jumper on the track team. He was state champion in the 100 meters as a junior and senior and placed fourth in the long jump and triple jump, and eighth in the shot put. Cedric also started on the basketball team and received the DAR Good Citizen Award for the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism as a senior.

At Virginia, Cedric redshirted in '04, but then played in every game as a reshirt freshman in 2005, compiling 237 yards rushing that season--good for 5th on the team. As a RS Soph in 2006, Cedric played in all 12 games and began to add some kick returning to his resume. In '07, he rushed for 585 yards, leading the team in that category despite the fact that he injured his foot during the 6th game of the season and never returned.

Did well in the 2008 post-season and at the Combine, running mid-4.4s at 216 pounds, and elevating his status. Ran a 4.47 short shuttle at the Virginia Pro Day on 3-19-09 but stood on the rest of the numbers from the Combine. Looked fine in position drills.

Powerful inside runner for his size. Rhythm back who is tough to stop once he gets it rolling. Good character. Competes. Good hands. Better straight-line speed than people thought. A battler. Hard worker who competes.

Bounces too much. Not an effective blocker or totally reliable pass receiver. Limited moves and size to be considered a feature back, and doesn't have 3rd-down specialties either.
